Never ending period?
I had hernia surgery the 19th of January and started my period on the 23rd. I am on Seasonale and have not had trouble with spotting in between the normally scheduled periods since my first packet - over a year ago now. I was right in the middle of my packet and not supposed to start bleeding. I missed no pills - even the day I had surgery. It's has been back and forth between spotting and full fledged bleeding almost constantly since then. I had a 2 day respite where the bleeding stopped. I have talked to the surgeon and my own regular Dr about this. They've both told me that I shouldn't be overly concerned and that's it's a reaction of my body to the physical stress of the surgery. My Dr gave me the option of taking progesterone pills to stop the bleeding but told me that I'd end up having to deal with "withdrawal" bleeding later when I went off them. I'm so sick of having this constantly to deal with and not getting much sex as a consequence (though we've had fun in the shower a few times) that I'm tempted to take the progesterone pills.
Has anyone here dealt with this kind of thing or taken the progesterone to stop a period? I took POP's while I was still nursing but never went off really - just switched to regular estrogen/progesterone pills. So I never dealt with the "withdrawal" bleeding she spoke of.
Any thoughts or suggestions?? Anything I can eat or vitamins I can take to help my body deal with this stress? I am taking iron to help with the blood loss albeit minor the last couple days.
