i like to think i'm up on the dietary stuff, so i was surprised when you said that about the margarines. I use a canola oil non-hydrogented margarine, which I specifically researched because i am sticking to complex carbs, and only eating sugar when I really really have to (like satisfying my baked goods (mmm butter tarts) or chocolate bar cravings - i'm not a total diet nazi).
I love butter, but i like the easy spreadability of my canola margarine!!!
