You people have the power. Support talent or put up with sub standard mediocrity. Buy an artist's CD instead of downloading it so that talent can show through and thrive. Downloading only produces shit like Ashlee Simpson because her backers have lots of coin. You want good music? Support those who make it and make life a little easier for us musicians not to mention your ears. What goes around, comes around, and this is the proof.

Being a musician as well, I agree with alot of what you say. I dont think downloading music PRODUCES the money for no-talent 'artists' (if you can even call them that). Pirating mp3's doesn't earn them money, it takes away from thier CD sales. I think these backers have the cash no matter what, and getting music from P2P dowloading programs isn't going to stop them from emerging. The only way these poor excuses for musicians will go away is through rejection by the masses. People have to realize that they dont want to listen to thier music, and stop buying thier CD's. When people stop buying thier stuff, I think they will get the message.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to go against your grain, I'm just trying to take a different direction on it. I buy tons of local music CD's if I like thier sound, go to local concerts, and have freinds in the local scene. I actually go to more 'unsigned' or 'local unestablished' band's shows more than I go to mainstream artist or successful musicians shows. Buying from these guys is DEFINATELY a plus. It helps them get out there, any money you can give you definately should. Join a street team or something, promote!
