The best thing that could happen to the US would be a female or black president, or both.
The Reps should overcome the past and their conservative attitudes. Times are changing, gay marriage, abortion, mulit-culturalism will just become accepted and a part of normal-day live. Changing his mind has nothing to do with flip-flopping, but with adapting to new situations and looking forward.
Maybe or maybe not the US were founded on Christianism, those times are over.
