God forgives all if you ask for forgiveness and are truly sorry.
Not sure what other religions, other than Catholocism, have the sacrament of Extreme Unction (Last Rights) but basically - on a person's death bed, the priest hears their sins, and absolves them of all their sins, and gives them a free ticket to heaven.
A few years back, my dad has some complications with an angioplasty and wasn't expected to survive it, a priest was called in, and last rights were administered. When he did recover, his thoughts were- -ooooh - clean slate, I can go back to being a bastard again
