Actually, thats not really true. I
do sit back about 10 feet. However, when watching an HD signal, it is recommended to sit much closer. In fact, the results from this THX calculator can be shocking. When watching HD signals in widescreen, I should be 6.7' from the screen!

That's just too damn close for me - and it all comes down to your personal preferance anyway. But I guess with the HD being so sharp, you can sit that close an not lose image quality - simulating a true movie theater feel.
