I forgot to mention, I usually just use one of xlockmore ( http://www.tux.org/~bagleyd/xlockmore.html), xscreensaver ( http://www.jwz.org/xscreensaver/), or KDE's screensavers ( http://www.kde.org/). In that order. I love xlock -mode grav or -mode random.
