Mister B, perhaps you can be more specific, exactly what/how did you 'trigger' it to want you to install some software?
(btw, for reference, I'm using XPSP1, Opera, AdMuncher, Linux Firewall)
The internet *is* shady...but one can make it so one is mostly oblivious to that
