Still doesn't make sense if you ask me! There are plenty of religions still being made that make absolutely no sense, and they still thrive in some places (hell look at Scientology).
I did see bits and pieces of the show while I worked, pretty informative and it actually made challenges to some parts of the story. Worth a watch even if you aren't Christian (I'm not and I enjoyed what I saw of it).
