my job.

i am posting this here because i need to vent, it will probably be somewhat of a ramble becuase this shit is all messed up in my head and i dont know what im going to be writing.

i suppose i should start at the begining.

when i started my job i was working after school, i was paid less then minimum wage was at the current time. I worked after school most days of the week, probably until 9 on average, and all saturday. during this time, myself and the other after school kids were always picked on by the bossman (from hence forth refered to as the great ass). we would always be doing hard labour such as moving wheel barrels of gravel, dirt, whatever all over the place, digging trenches etc. also yard work such as mowing lawns, cleaning up the warehouses, sweeping and such.

once i got my drivers liscnce i also went out in the pickup truck and picked stuff up on saturdays.

after a while i started shipping, we pick orders and wrap them and such.

during the summers we would work full days 6 days a week.

oh did i mention no overtime, ever?

well as time progressed, my last year of highschool i talked to my boss and started working shipping days and saturdays only (3 days a week) shipping days are the long days. coming up on the end of school i was old enough to get my air ticket so i could drive his trucks, he paid me to do this so i did.

school ends... wawhoo or so i though ...

now he has me working 6 days a week again, days start at 830, but have no set end time.. could be anywhere from 5 until 10 on regular days (non shipping) and probably averaged around 7 ish. this was the slow time of year so he decided he would give me wed. off. fine by me. during this time i work in the warehouse cleaning, organizing, shipping, and also driving the trucks.

well now it rolls around he wants me back for six days a week, he wont say that tho, he just tries every tuesday, "see you tomorow", and i reply with the whole no i dont work on wed so i already made plans, because if i am in one wed he will have me there every wed.

so things i do include but not limited to, shipping, cleaning, organizing, driving, building, painting,(including his house), yard work, and so many things i dont remeber at the time of this ramble.

I would say i have worked there for about four years now... it is the only job i have ever had.

now lets get into why i dislike this hellhole and the great assman.

he makes fun of me, and other younger employees.

he makes fun of me in dutch right infront of me to other people, knowing I dont know what hes saying

he makes fun of my tee shirt being dirty and gets mad, even thought that is dirt collected from working throughout the day (jee i dont work in the office like you asshole)

this one guy there... they dont like him, hes a buddy of mine, they treat him like shit, his raises dont come often and dont follow anyone elses. he was invited the christmas dinner one year, but not the next, they have certain orders they will let him pick on shipping nights because "if he does the harder ones he will fuck them up", this is not true this guy is a good worker and has made alot of progress when he was there.. he does mess up on orders some times, but everyone does, i have caught screw ups my boss, the assman, and his sidekick the blister have made. the way they treat him really really gets on my nerves.

the assman doesnt know what goes on because i am a driver i do what the transportation manager tells me, such as getting stuff ready so i can go driving and be back sometime that day. however the assman will get upset if dont do something stupid like empty the garbage can in the office or some stupid thing like that.

now heres the safety section of my little story.

hah.

ok well weve move fully loaded pallet racking by putting pallet jacks under and putting boards across. moving a top heave pallet rack is dangerous enuogh.. but for ones where the pallet jack cant fit around the end (say its against a wall) we have to put a board from one side to the other and make a little frame so it wont tip over... it takes about a minute to screw it together so its safe... the great ass decides we shouldnt do that and that we should just wedge a broken peice of board in there to hold it together (on one of his visits to annoy out from the office). now weve moved these things before and we know how to do it.. but he comes out and fucks it all up and makes it extremely diffictult and take way longer then it should because he figures his way is best..

more saftey stories

unloading a container of shifted pallets of bails of soil. these things are very heavy and many pallets tipped.. one destroyed our steel pallet jack... probably about 5 almost landed on me.

i was up in the cieling and we were taking out old insulation... my boss tells us not to bother with the cheap paper masks... he works out there for a while... next day is coughing and gagging and tells us we should have masks on..

later on, same insulation we are (well me, i was the only one there on a sunday) i was up in the roof of one of the shops, its probably 16 feet to the cieling and i was up on top, its poorly lit and the ply wood is held on with staples, so i need to make sure to only stand on the 2 by 4's... well im covering this with insulation... hard to see what im standing on, luckily didnt fall through..

ahh eys painting safety...

my other buddy there was paingint my bosses house on the top of a ladder that was on the top of a stack of pallets..

we had a ladder on the top of one of the trucks and leaning against his house..

we had 2x 4's from the truck roof to the house roof with a ladder balanced on top

weve crawled on the house roof ( lots of peaks) and reached over the edges..

weve painted the cielling of the shop from the the truck roof, workers comp came that day and told us there needed to be a gaurd rail on the top of the truck

we also had 2x6s across 2 stacks off pallets as make shift scafolding

my buddy ended up falling off a ladder and breaking his wrist there... my boss paid him the time he was out to avoid workers comp and they lied to workers comp and said he wasnt ddoing it at work.

i think thats good for safety stories for now, its 1 am and i dont remeber anymore at the current time..

now when i started out driving it wasnt that bad i didnt go anywhere to bad but then he started sending me into the city and stuff when i still had little experience... i ended up telling him i didnt want to drive.. he said ok, but i ended up being a driver anyways, i still drive, i do deleveriess and pickups on shipping days and go places other days of the week too.

he needs me for other things on shipping days tho, so he finaly got a new driver... he quit... then he put me back, now he got a new one again.

usualy the drivers were much older then me (like semi retirement) so i kind of understand them making more money then me.. this new guy is in my age range.

this is the clencher.. he on his first day there... doing only part of what i do, already makes more money then me..

this isnt about the money

it is simply about the fact that after all the bullshit ive put up with and with some 4 years of loyalty or what have you... some guy he gets out of no where is worth more to him then I am.. I feel very upset that he doesnt value me as an employee, because i know he abuses me as one

more to come im sure... this was just some things i needed to get off my chest but im sure i missed some it being some 1 20 in the morning after another 12 hour day .. (some days are more like 15 or 16 hours when its the busy season)
