wired or [<a href="http://www.linksys.com/splash/gameadapters_splash.asp" target="_blank">wireless</a>]?
you can get a pretty decent wireless G router for ~$60 (+plus the cost of the ps2 wireless adapter), and a decent wireless B or non-wireless router for ~$20-30. I like netgear and linksys equipment, but I haven't had any real problems with d-link or smc either.
