Got all three games set to record for today.
I'm interested to see what our Southern bros in Mexico do vs Cameroon.
Oh, and the Aussie match should be good, too.

Netherlands-Spain is 1-1 at the half after Robin van Persie tied it up with a GLORIOUS header. It was seriously one of the most beautiful goals I've ever seen.

2-1? I go out to the beach for a bit, and walk back to this...looking decent for the Dutch...

3-1 now after a little sneaker during a set piece. Spain just had a goal taken back after an offsides call.

This game is everything I hoped it would be.

Damn, we're killing it. I've been anxious for this game since the draw. This result was something I would have never predicted, despite my faith in my squad. Incredible.

So, it looks like Robben and Van Persie came to make some history...

    I'm just stunned.

"Revenge is a dish best served cold," said one of the announcers as the match finished. Well, the Dutch know all about being cold. ;)

Unf, loving the post-game coverage with Alexi Lalas AND Ruud van Nistelrooy. Oh, the hotness!!!

I've got to say - Alexi was my American soccer hero - or one of them - when I was a kid. Big, red hair, played in the back and really only got through on scrappy play, especially on international play. So I hate it, but he really seems sort of like a twerp a lot of the time that I hear him speak. Maybe he'll tone it down a bit during this cup, but watching him in 2010 interact with Ballack was sort of embarrassing at times. When you're Lalas, you don't just cut off Ballack mid sentence. He's with van Nistelrooy and Martinez this year?

It seems most people weren't expecting much from the Dutch this tournament - I guess that'll give everyone something to think about..

So...Costa Rica just decimated Uruguay...interesting result as well. So far, this cup is proving quite entertaining...that header was amazing.

Living in a strange timezone we rarely get to watch sports events at decent time, but these games are only a half hour off from us, yay!

I have to admit, i've never been hugely into football (soccer) but i'm being drawn in this year. Pretty much everyone at work is cheering for a different team, so I somewhat randomly chose Belgium (no one ever seems to talk about them, but they're #5 in the ranking). If I had chosen based on favourite jersey, though, I would have picked Cameroon. My gf is Italian so of course she was very excited about their win today... after the game she broke out her big Italian flag to put up in the window.

Seems like an exciting year for sports, the Habs almost made it to the finals, and in AHL the local Ice Caps are in the finals for the Calder Cup... it's an amazing thing for us to even have a team in the AHL, so this is pretty wicked. Now if the Blue Jays can continue to do well i'll be a very happy sports fan :)

Waiting for the kickoff in USA v Ghana. Saw my Ghanian friend this weekend. He tried to get me to bet money, and I said I didn't care about US team that much. If they win, great, but I'm a Dutch girl at heart. Had a laugh yesterday--apparently my mom has been emailing back and forth with my cousins in the Netherlands about van Persie's performance in the last match, as she wasn't a van Persie fan before and thought he was too arrogant. Well, yeah, I said to her. He's Dutch!

I saw a bit of the Argentina vs BIH (all I could think of "take twice hourly") match , still not concerned with what country this was but that was mildly entertaining at least. Argentina did score a goal at least while I was watching.
