I'm not ashamed to admit that that is one of the first clips I looked up after hearing that Whitney Houston died.

I'm curious if we'll find out what the cause of death was. Like Indigo Kid, I'm a bit uncomfortable with the assumptions that she was just "another addict who ODed." Maybe that's true, but until it's confirmed there are truly many other reasonable possibilities as well.

 

People are saying that she drowned after missing booze and Xanax, but I don't know if that's "official"

I would never assume that, that is what the National Enquirer did after Andy Gibbs died and they were completely wrong as he had been clean and sober from everything for two full years.
I would not be surprised if it was something similar to the Gibbs case where the cause of death was a heart attack caused by an enlarged and weakened heart after too many years of using some hard drugs.

 

Shit, we are all going to die one day. I find her demise somewhat glamourous. I could only hope to drown in the tub at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. It's so Jim Morrison. The stuff of legends.

 

Marrying Bobby Brown was her death sentence.
The drugs did ruin her voice. I think it's not terribly important now what exactly killed her. Regardless, we'll know in a couple of weeks.

 

On another note, today marks Whitney Houston's 19th day of sobriety.

Yes, I know I'm an asshole.

 

Even if she had gone back to rehab rather than have "one last good time" (And I am referring to National Enquirer/Globe headlines here, so I treat those with a good 2 pounds of salt any given day) I would have been surprised if she had reached 60 or much older with all of the damage she did to her body with various substances over the year. Such a shame when you see how healthy she looks in '96 in the Preacher's Wife.
