We're currently on a little trip to LA, so our dog is staying with friends, who also let her sleep wherever she likes. We miss her. She's actually small enough to be unobtrusive in the bed, but warm and fuzzy enough to be cuddly anyhow....

This is her on the body pillow my wife sometimes sleeps with/next to.

Molly, an australian shepherd/corgi mix, sleeps to my back or at my feet at night. I'm a heavy sleeper so she doesn't wake me when she moves.

Lately, Ruff has taken to sleeping on me. This is comforting to me, as it is something my childhood cat, the dearly departed Fuzz Bucket, also did.

fflowley Don't just do something, stand there!

Our dog is getting old so she goes to sleep around 1900 hours now.
We compete to get her to sleep on our side of the bed to have it warm when we get in.
After that it's over to my wife's side because both the dog and I radiate so much heat at night we have to be separated.

Obi, our Pug/Corgi mix now sleeps under our bed. It just wasn't working with him and the 16 y.o. - female Schipperke sleeping in the same room with our son as she picks on Obi all the time.

To be more specific, on the large bed,

My Middle child, in-between my feet.
My Oldest, against my torso to my right.
My Youngest, near my hip to my left.

Yes, there's hair...but that's what vacuums are for.

My bed is the size of Utah and theres plenty of room for all of us to spread out comfortably if we want, but if Im sleeping with The Big Dog and his big dog, Sam, we all sort of sleep together in a pile. Sam moves around and through the night we will often grumble, "Sam, stop it" or "Sam, move" or "What the fuck, Sam?". We love him well and always; hes one of my best friends. I let him run my life pretty much as he sees fit when hes around; its sort of the same with His Master.

Our cat sits on my chest while I read in bed an then I shove him off to go to sleep. Sometimes it stays in bed between us and eventually goes off who knows where after we're asleep.

Our sleeping arrangements have changed with the new house and new addition. I was enjoying having my bed to myself for a couple of weeks until Keela came. The cats slept on the couch, but now that Keela's around that's too scary for them. Monkey is content to curl up in my computer chair (if she could speak for herself I'm sure she'd tell you it's her chair, though she does share it with me sometimes). Layla curls up next to me and snores in my ear.

Keela has a bed. We brought it out when she moved in and Layla promptly claimed it. Keela is utterly submissive so she just accepted that the 12 lb cat could take the bed from her 60 lb self, and so it's been ever since. She now sleeps on the living room floor, but doesn't seem terribly bothered by it.

The two kittens sleep in the bedroom with us. Usually on the bed, but being cats they sometimes sleep on the cat condo, in their respective lair, etc. The adult cat sleeps pretty much where ever she wants in the living-room and on the kitchen counters. The dogs spread themselves around on the living-room floor, the sofa, & the recliner.

    Wherever they feel like it.
Usually on the cat bed by the dresser, then in the curtains, then at the foot of the bed by 2 am or so. Max sleeps downstairs near the garage door whenever one of us is gone. There's no telling a Bengal where they can and cannot sleep. If hey want to sleep on your head, they will do so until forcibly removed.

My late lab of 14 years slept on the floor in our bedroom in his bed. I'm of the strong opinion that animals do not belong in bed. He had complete run of the house and had his own dog bed in the bedroom and the living room, so that was good enough.
When we had a townhouse, he was allowed to sleep on the old couch in the basement. One time we left him at my parents for the weekend. That evening he went down in the basement. My parents checked on him after an hour and he was sacked out on the couch. I guess he figured as long as it was a basement he could sleep on a couch.
