Here in GA its starting to do the 3 seasons in a day, fall in the morning, summer around 4, and winter about an hour after dark.

Two and a half feet of snow and it's still going.
Since we haven't had any snow since mid-September folks were a little worried that this would be a winter where it was just cold and we got little to no snow.
We just didn't expect it to make up the entire month of October in one day.

We got snowed in Thursday night in Winner, South Dakota. Sig wanted to look at some grassland just east of here on Thursday before we headed back through Valentine and the Sandhills to Lincoln. Bad idea, we knew the storm was coming in.
Well, the freezing drizzle started Thursday afternoon with 40mph winds and we had hardly left before I lost control a couple of times and we headed back to Winner. Took half an hour of slip and slide to backtrack about ten miles, and we got the last room (a handicapped room) at the Holiday Inn Express.:) A nice place, actually. We had our laptops and there was great (CAT5 plug-in as well as wireless) high speed internet. Nice little pool and a hot tub/whirlpool with a sauna. Pretty good fitness center. Excellent motel style hot breakfast with an attendant that kept things fresh and hot. All for $114 per night.:)
At check out time there was about 15 inches of snow on the ground, lots of wind, blowing and drifting Hwy US18 closed both directions and US183 closed southbound:( so we re-upped for another night. Had a late lunch at Shirley's diner, a typical great small town diner. We turned in early, my love kept me warm, and headed out this morning as soon as the roads opened.
About a six hour drive home. Still kind of slick in spots. Fed Presto, a very annoyed and hungry cat.

Anyway, time to sign off on this. Husker Women's Volleyball Team is playing the Longhorns in the Austin Regional for a spot in the final Four and the game is about to start. Kind of an off year for the Nebraska girls, but here they are in the Elite Eight, anyway.;)

    The weather...
It's gone back well below 0F after jumping up over 30F.
Every time it warms up, it snows so there is a tough choice.
Do I want it to be cold as hell or snowing like crazy?
This has been kind of an annoying winter.

Our very welcome cold front ends late today/early tomorrow; five days of summer temps again. Last week we had one day where our high of 87°F was over 20° higher than our normal December temps.

We had a record breaking day today in Lincoln. High temp was 74, unheard of for Nebraska in mid-December. Previous record was 63 from 1939.
Also had sustained winds of 50+mph and a straight line gust of 93mph at the airport. Sand-hills where we got snowed in last Thursday got rain/snow/sleet mix with 50mph wind, roads closed, etc., etc., etc.
So glad I could just settle in at home.:) Except for the wind that blew the garbage mini-dumpster down the driveway and into the street.

    High today around 62.

On Xmas day a high of 82 is predicted,
which isn't unheard of in Houston.

It’s cloudy 25-32 snowy lately. Hasn’t been too much to drive in but can get slick. we passed an accident last night, one of the cars took out a fence, small trees, and was stuck in huge thick brush.

4° F right now with 18mph wind gusting to 30. Lots of blowing snow but only about 3" on the ground.

Cold again tomorrow but up to 40° on Tuesday, or so they promise.

Screenshot_20220103-221211_Gallery.jpg Screenshot_20220103-221120_Gallery.jpg So you probably heard about the Colorado Marshall fire that took place a few days ago. It was also a few miles from my house. My wife and I ended up packing a couple go bags and preparing some photo albums and stuff to take with us. We ended up not being in the path of the fire, but if the eind had shifted... The top pic really illustrates how strong the wind was. The smoke isn't even rising. It is completely sideways. Ash was landing on my ex-wife's car, and she lives 9 miles east. The second pic at night shows Louisville and Superior burning. Louisville is to the right, and Superior is on the left. The Flatirons mall is in between. The picture is from the north side of the Jefferson County aitport. All of this is ten minutes from my house. In between the airport and my neighborhood is a huge corporate campus that includes Ball industrial (every soda can and also mason jars are made or designed by them) and Ball Aerospace. My bank is also the closest bank branch to Superior in my company. Two different customers came in whose houses had burned down. There will be more this week

Yesterday, got a foot of snow.
    Frozen over today.

Thankfully the power stayed on, although it was flickering throughout the day, triggering outages.
Also thankfully, I work remote. on I-95 some got stuck for 16 hours...horrid.

This area isn't used to that kind of volume of snow...it did impact.
    Getting more on Thursday...
