What's the Weather Like Where You Are?

If I were more affluent, or perhaps tad more intelligent. I could figure out a way to "snow bird" it like so many of my neighbors and friends.

In Sept. I will be living here eight years. I keep thinking "this is the year I'm finally going to accumulate" and each year, so far, I've been wrong. I believe I'm going to accumulate to the heat the same week I finally learn passable Spanish. That should happen about ten minutes before I pass away. Ok, maybe two minutes.

So I'll be dead but my Spanish will be great.

 

its been raining here for two weeks, my soil is eroding into the creek and the level areas are swamp like. the ground is saturated and so the water is standing. the rain stopped today. yet KOTV 6 says more is on the way.

 

Lots of rain, plenty of flooding, five confirmed deaths as of last night, possibly more. Our side of Houston has been outer edge of the previous rainstorms and was on the outer edge of the latest nasty rainstorms that lead to ground saturation and subsequent flooding. Very reminiscence of Tropical Storm Allison. We've been lucky...very very lucky.

If Houston ever gets hit by a huge hurricane, say the size of Katrina, we'll be in serious trouble. Having adequate storm drains, ditches, etc. is fine...until the water hits the already full bayous, rivers, etc.

What was the deal with that coffin washing up?

 

warm bright and sunshine it's great. this last round of flooding was horrible though. A Claremore firefighter drowned and another hospitalized while trying to perform a rescue on a family. Sad

 

Sunny and warm by Alaska standards 72 degrees.

 

And apparently I lost my post about the rain we're currently receiving.

Raining

 

Several days ago I posted a long reply....which then was overwritten/erased by another reply....which happened to several of my posts here on TFP....all courtesy of my smart phone.

The coffin was in a cemetery located very near Keegans Bayou, & was supposed to be in a vault with a sealed lid and drainage holes in the bottom. The lid apparently wasn't properly sealed.

What disturbs me in the above story is it sounds as though the widower will eventually let this drop because he loves the church where he is a long time member, the church which owns the cemetery.

 

It seems that the disturbance in the Gulf of Mexico will very likely develop (maybe already has) into Tropical Storm Bill. The various computer tracks show it landing somewhere on the Texas coast at or near Houston. The best that we can hope for is landfall east of Houston to keep us on the 'drier' side of the storm, which could still mean at least 6" of rain in 24 hours.. To make it worse we've had just enough scattered thunderstorms over the past two weeks keep the ground wet.
