What's Good on TV right now?

On right now? "Breaking Bad," "Burn Notice" and "The Glades." Breaking Bad is far superior to the other two. I usually do not miss Real Time with Bill Maher. And at times I'll catch a "Memphis Beat" if bored. It's pretty fluffy but I like Jason Lee, he and Alfre Woodard deserve better writers.

I'm currently working through the first season of Boardwalk Empire. It's good, not as intense as the Sopranos but good. Plus I like the period costumes, props and scenery.

I'm looking forward to the return of Justified and South Land.

I can't watch Real Time anymore. I find it makes my very angry and frustrated. I still watch The Daily Show and The Colbert Report four nights a week. And Rescue Me. Rescue Me manages to pack the incredibly dramatic and the silly absurd so well together. I also really, really enjoy Wilfred and Louie. If Louie doesn't sweep the Emmy's there's no justice in the world. I've been watching the Americanized Torchwood, but so far it's terrible. I'm looking forward to the return of Sons of Anarchy, so I can vicariously live the life of a gun-running motorcycle-club member. That's a lot of fun.

Some times I feel it's necessary to get pissed off. Also I find Maher funny even though I think he's got an ego beyond any possible measurement.

I too regularly watch The Daily Show and Colbert. Sometime that pisses me off too.

If I really want to get mad, I watch Olbermann. His show on Current is a lot better than it was on MSNBC. I think part of what pisses me off about Real Time is people talking over each other and filibustering. I almost pulled my hair out last week Margaret Hoover kept interrupting Spitzer. Christ. And I think Matt Kibbe might be retarded.

I should add Olbermann to my list.

Falling Skies: I don't know how it hooked me ... it's one of the timbers I cling to in the ocean after the demise of the Stargate franchise.
The Closer: Kyra Sedgwick's ability to mismatch the energy of those around her and to generate concentrated jewels of over-response fascinates me. Totally sucks me in.
Leverage: In absence of the SG1 team, this gang of five reasures me that there are still small teams of actors are looking after the world.

Would I call them good? Heck - I ... I'm not sure. The characters keep me company between clients or when eating food, but they are not giving me the kind of three dimensional worlds and 'big story arc' nourishment provided by SG1, or Nikita or Sanctuary.

I seriously would recommend NTSF.SD.SUV ... It's 2 episodes into its first series and cracks me up. It is a simple send-up of police-procedure action dramas, and each episode lasts about 15 minutes.
Web therapy might also be good ... I've watched the Web episodes, and if they follow the qualitity in the new TV series, then good. I'll need to watch them in a day or two.

OK, I went ahead and watched the TV episodes of Web Therapy. Heck yeah ... I'd definitely call it good :)

    Stuff that's still going on:
    30 Rock
    Breaking Bad
    Curb Your Enthusiasm
    Dexter
    It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
Mad Men (I'm pining for its return)
    Parks and Recreation

    Stuff that's over:
    Big Love
Flash Forward (didn't survive long, but I really enjoyed it)
    Lost
    Oz
    Six Feet Under
    The Wire

I'm a sucker for Jeopardy, How It's Made, Mystery Diagnosis and documentary-type shows on Discovery/Science/History about natural disasters, the origin of the universe and the end of the world.

Definitely, and I felt exactly the same way about this episode, which I literally just finished watching.

Just started watching Strike Back on Cinemax, which is a continuance of the British show of the same name. Its pretty much digital testosterone, with a terrorist/anti-terrorist plot to keep everything moving. The fist 2 episodes have been balls to the wall action, and thats been hard to find on tv for quite awhile.

  9. The only show I'm faithful to anymore is House. I've never watched a lot of television, and after LOST ended my interest waned even further. I'll occasionally catch an episode of American Pickers, Criminal Minds, or Lie to Me.

Hubby watches anything and everything. In addition to the shows that seem to be favorites here (Breaking Bad, Boardwalk Empire, Burn Notice, Dexter) he also watches The Walking Dead, Weeds (is it even still on?), The Mentalist, and some show with William H. Macy as an alcoholic dad. If it's on TV, chances are he's caught at least one episode. We watch House and Lie to Me together.

I have a hard time hearing Hugh Laurie without his proper British accent after watching every single Black Adder ever done and some other things with him.

My picks for tv shows (most these are more streaming or past shows, and I have no active tv connection anymore aside from Netflix streaming.)
Benny Hill show - I told my kindergarten teacher my favourite show was 'Benny Hills'. Might not have gone over the best at the small private Christian school I was going to. :)
    Black Adder
    Are You Being Served?
Chopped - was DVRing this before we dropped the DISH

those are off the top of my head, and yes I do have more appreciation generally for Britsh humour than the American variety.

Scrubs: I think the series is over, but it currently on Netflix streaming, so I have to watch it.

Survivors: A BBC show about a huge virus that wiped out most of the world and now we get to see people surviving, together. A bit intense.

Doctor Who: Has anyone finished watching part 1? We discover the true identity of River Song, which is insane!

Torchwood: season 1 was a bit weak, as several people stated, but then it drastically improves.

Sons of Anarchy: Who doesn't want to watch a biker gang take out other biker gangs?

Star Trek: watched five episodes of the original series before it was taken off Netflix streaming, but now it is back on, so I will be watching this again.

Weeds: I am finding season 6 to be rather annoying because the main characters should know how to handle other drug dealers.

I re-watched Mad Men from the beginning.
It's not a perfect show, but the character development and direction are excellent.
And it has a fabulous ensemble cast. It kind of sweeps you along in a barbituate-like haze of beauty and emotional dysfunction.

I am about to start Season 3 of The Wire and I would say that it is a perfect show.
The best I have ever seen, anyway.

I am about to start Season 2 of Breaking Bad and, while I like it, there's something about it that keeps me from getting too close.
The lead character is very likable, though.

I started watching Hell's Kitchen (uncensored, I tell you) and, while it is fun, it's really hard to watch sometimes.
    What an asshole.

I'm keeping on with True Blood, but sometimes it just seems too silly. And I'm not a big fan of Anna Paquin's delivery, I dunno, I just don't always buy Sookie Stackhouse. It's fun, though, for the most part. The opening credits are always a pleasure to watch.

The first disc of this British show is next on my dvd queue, it looked interesting: Red Riding Trilogy

Waiting on new seasons of Big Love and Californication to show up at Netflix.

I have just put Bored to Death on my queue so I'll start watching that soon.

Waiting on Boardwalk Empire to become available.

I have enjoyed Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares and think I have my sister hooked now.

I was so pissed when I learned that Mad Men wasn't going to come out again this summer. Instead, they have pushed it until March 2012. Currently I am watching True Blood. I am looking forward to the new season of The Walking Dead coming out in October.

Does anyone have any series on Netflix canada they would recommend (our Canadian version is far lamer than the US version unfortunately). I just caught up with all my Dexters, NCIS, House, and Hawaii 5-0 and am looking for a new series with the wife.

Have you seen the IT Crowd? It's a BBC show, so it should be available. It takes a few episodes to get into it.
