Tis the season for birthdays and anniversaries. Medure's does half-price bottles of wine on Mondays so we postponed our anniversary celebration by a week and my birthday by a day. It was awesome, but I'm too old to drink like that.

My dinner last night (had to wait until they updated the online menu, as there were new items):

Drinks: Copper River martini (Bombay Sapphire gin, Grand Marnier, and Campari, up, with a twist) for me, Cragganmore 12 and Dalwhinnie 15 for hubby. I love the Copper River--it's an old favorite of mine at this place. The first one had a little too much Grand Marnier--usually they only add enough of the Grand Marnier and Campari to turn the drink slightly salmon-colored (hence the name). The second one was perfect and still dry, as there was just enough of the other liqueurs to bring out the flavor in the Bombay Sapphire.

To start: Cheese plate--frega farms herb goat cheese, mt. townsend seastack, la mariposa chubut, seasonal fruit & grilled bread

The Mt. Townsend Seastack cheese was delicious. I might need more of that. The chubut from La Mariposa was very mild and creamy. The Frega Farms goat cheese is the standby of the cheese plate at this place, and it's always good.

For dinner: Lamb sirloin--Grilled Lava Lakes lamb, potatoes, green beans, carrots, red wine reduction, and Summit mint salsa verde

The red wine reduction made the carrots look like beets. They were delicious. The lamb was perfectly done, delicious, and the mint salsa verde just took it to the next level. Lovely meal. Hubby had one of their pizzas, which are quite good, but he ate all his before I could even get a bite in. I was also too busy mooning over my lamb.

Dessert: Tiramisu Torte--two layers of sponge cake moistened with a syrup of espresso, rum & brandy, then filled and topped with mascarpone cream

It's a good thing I don't eat like this all the time.

  6. Having dinner with BabyDaddy's parents. So whatever they buy/make me. His mom is an AMAZING cook, so I'm hoping she cooks for us! She usually makes something without fish heads for me... Japanese family.

We had a great meal of stir fried broccoli and cauliflower, baked sweet potato and a winter squash, steamed asparagus with watermelon juice and chia seeds. A whole bunch of colour. It was the best.

My red sauce with sautéed, julienned yellow squash and zucchini and some mushrooms of various varieties. With spinach spaghetti. I make good leftovers.

Roasted chicken smothered in wing sauce. If I can't have wings, this is close enough. Soooo good.
