Already did Clyde's once... That was enough. Ugh. There's a Noodles & Co. or pizza delivery, but I think I'd rather eat some steamed rice from the hotel. The mom sure it's only $8.

    Tofu!

My husband makes incredible fried tofu. It's the kind of tofu that converts nonbelievers.

  5. Slim Jim Riverman sammich at the Riverview Inn, Algonquin IL. Italian beef on garlic bread with sweet peppers and BACON covered with cheddar cheese. I've already clogged one carotid, this should take care of the other. image.jpg

A Greek salad from Todd's Independant Grocer. Would have preferred a California salad but they were out. At $5.00 Cdn. the price is spectacular, however. All fresh, local veggies (except the black olives, which I picked out).

A big salad with chicken thighs I poached in the slow cooker in a mixture of broth and water. Dressing them up with some lemon and capers.

    Pizza, wings, and beer.

It's Plan9 's fault, he pushed me to drink. And once I decided to have beer, pizza and wings just kind of fell from the sky.

I'm also doing ribs. Mine are boneless, though...that was what was on sale.

Never have tried it. My impression has been that tofu is more of an container that takes on the flavour of other things, is that anywhere near correct?

It can be. However, it's also good relatively plain--so long as it is dried out well and fried. He makes what I call chicken-fu. It's tofu that's been fried up, dashed with some soy sauce, and tossed in nutritional yeast, so the nutritional yeast forms a kind of coating. It's delicious.

    Home-made steak & cheese sammiches.

    - White sandwich bread
    - Strips of cooked ribeye
    - Warm, gooey slices of Gouda cheese
    - Loads of caramelized onion
    - Mayonnaise/Dijon mix made in a little bowl

    I died a glorious death.

We made a tomato rice dish for dinner tonight.
Garlic, onions and a bit of olive oil.
Sauté above, add diced tomatoes (4 cups).
Stir with heat medium to mix.
Add 1 measure of brown rice and 3 measures of water.
Bring to a boil and then simmer for 1 hour.
    Serves two. It's yummy!

Last night I had Sri Lankan for the first time. It was really good. Obviously similar to Indian food, but there are some other things going on as well. Yummy. I need to track down somewhere to eat at home.
