I'm babysitting, so I'm at the mercy of the family I work for, but it should be spaghetti :)

At a combo Irish bar/Traditional Indian restaurant. It was THE hottest curry I've ever had. Chicken was great, rice was good and the naan was excellent. Also drank a few new IPAs.

Going to try this recipe a friend gave me

    Pasta with Garlic-Scape Pesto

    Ingredients :

    For the pesto
    10 large garlic scapes
    1/3 cup unsalted pistachios
    1/3 cup finely grated Parmigiano-Reggiano
Kosher salt ( or onion/ garlic or table salt and black pepper
    1/3 cup extra-virgin olive oil

    1 pound spaghetti

    Methods:

Make the pesto: Puree the garlic scapes, pistachios, Parmesan, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon pepper in a food processor until very finely chopped. With the motor running, slowly pour the oil through the opening. Season the pesto with salt and pepper to taste. (The pesto keeps in the fridge, covered, for 1 week or frozen for a month.)

In a large pot of heavily salted boiling water, cook the spaghetti until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of the pasta-cooking water, then drain the pasta. Whisk together 2/3 cup of the pesto and the reserved pasta water and toss with the pasta. Season with salt and pepper to taste and serve right away.

  10. Been meaning to make some green curry for the past, like, month. I haven't eaten at all today. This sounds like a winning combination.

Stumbled upon New Orleans' new N_K_D Pizza franchise.

Ordered a big-ass Omnivore pizza with lots and lots of meat just now. Let's see how it tastes.

I require pictures of said pizza in the future. I could only find top-down shots of their pies. I need shots from the side of the slice so I can see the rise of the cornicione (the crust) as well as the hole structure and I need a shot of the underside (the "undercarriage") so I can judge how well they cooked the pizza. It looks like some of their pies have nice blistering--this gives me hope for your pie.

Have I mentioned I love pizza?

I tend to avoid Pizza here in Dubai, as it is usually way below average, but I almost always give any place a go at least once.

Two things stood out with NKD Pizza: taste and punctuality.

Anyone who has ordered home delivery in Dubai more than once knows just how bad the places here are in being punctual with their deliveries. Often not their fault, as road planning in this city is horrible and addresses can often be hard to find. This place said 35 minutes, and it was here exactly 35 minutes later (give or take 10 seconds). I was impressed.

The flavor was fantastic. Pizza was cooked very well, the sauce base is nice and the veggies tasted very fresh. The ingredients all tasted of higher quality than what is the norm here (unless you go to one of the higher-priced Italian places here, who often don't do deliveries).

Sorry to say, I didn't take any pictures. The pizza did look very good, though. Will remember to take pictures for you next time, snowy . Should be sooner than later, they've definitely found another repeat customer.

Also found out that Time Out Dubai has given NKD Pizza a 4/5 star rating.

I'm fascinated by the proliferation of pizza the world over and interested in how different cultures put their own spin on it, or reproduce what they've seen elsewhere.

If you ever manage your way to Sydney, you have to try Crust Pizza. It's a fantastic pizza franchise with some seriously appetizing and unconventional recipes and toppings/combinations.

I've enjoyed their pizzas many times, and apparently Lish loves them too. :)

Roasted tomato soup: Roasted Tomato Soup Recipe | Steamy Kitchen Recipes

I did things a bit differently, given that my husband likes chunky soup with more vegetables. I roasted the veg already diced to make it a bit faster while sauteeing some carrots. I then added the roasted veg to the carrots, added the roasted tomatoes, and then pulsed some of the soup in the food processor to make smaller chunks. I poured half of that back in the Dutch oven, and then pureed the remainder of the soup in the food processor. I also didn't add any paprika, used a serrano pepper instead of a jalapeno, and am debating how to finally season the soup. I also won't be adding any dairy.
