The leek and sweet potato soup is simmering at the moment. I'll probably have it with a fried tofu sandwich when it's done.

Amazing jerk turkey-tomato-avocado-mayo-jalapeno havarti sammich on a french hamburger bun with pickles on the side.
And a Fat Tire I smuggled across three state lines ;)

Heh, we had leek and regular potato soup--the potatoes were German Butterballs. Yummy. My husband also threw some raab and celery in there.

Tofurkey sausage on a multigrain bun with fried leek greens.

fflowley Don't just do something, stand there!

I made home made pork and beans from scratch. Pinto beans, and smoked ham hocks provided the meat along with gooey gelatinous goodness.
As a side corn bread, with the recipe that was in the NY Times last weekend.
    Deelish all around.

Grilling hot dogs and hamburgers. Also grilling some carrots, which I think is a firsts. Tossing them in some balsamic vinegar I think.

Whatever I wish to scrape up at Kale Eatery that doesn't weigh too much. It's all vegan steamed, baked, or raw.

I do love me some good food. :D

It doesn't have to be expensive or gourmet, but I want something tasty. And we try not to buy much/any prepackaged or overly processed stuff. Fortunately we both like to cook and enjoy a lot of the same things.

Local store has poblanos on sale for 88 cents/lb and pork steak for $1.98/lb so this pm I'll make my dad's New Mexico pork green chile.

If you get time, you should find one of the chili threads we have floating around in here and post the recipe. I'd be interested in seeing it. :)

And while I'm being bossy, I'd like to see your chile brisket recipe as well. I typically make a home made rub and smoke my briskets, but I've been looking for other ideas as well.

I don't share my actual chili recipe, but I can find you the original one it's based off of... I won 2nd in a competition at the St Johns County fire and sherriff's department (stupid nepotism). And, I'll post up the braised brisket recipe after I get the chili started and on my first paper break, Borla.
