I'm making chicken and vegetable soup. I work until 6 every night now.

It's pretty easy... sautee diced turnips, new and purple potatoes with onion and garlic. Add fresh sliced green beans and white corn, more onion, roasted garlic, matchstick carrots, diced zucchini and yellow squash, sautee some more. In a separate pan, sweat leeks and sautee thinly sliced brussel sprouts with roasted garlic. Add mushrooms to the first pan, then the leeks and brussel sprouts and sautee longer. Roughly chop one rotisserie chicken breast, toss in with 2-32 oz boxes of no-MSG chicken stock and let simmer for 30ish minutes. I salt and pepper while I'm cooking the veggies, along with oregano, thyme, and rosemary. With a piece of hot, crusty multi-grain bread, it's delicious. Sugar Daddy has his over really thin egg noodles, I toss in a handful of pearl barley and go from there.

  5. The tamales, pulled pork, brisket (oh, the brisket!), and shepherd's pie are awesome. Surprisingly, the ribs ain't all that special. Also, if you love throat scorching bbq, this is not the place for you. Even their "Fire on the roof" sauce isn't very hot. Sweet and tangy is their game. Chocolate Dr. Pepper cake is sinful! My question is: If they bake it in-house, why no Dr. Pepper on tap? Some nice locally brewed craft beers served, though. I'll be going back:)

I made mussels for the first time. They were good, although clearly I needed to buy more (1 pound is not enough for 2 people, especially when one third of the mussels had to be discarded before cooking since they were already opened).
Also, more wine, and less cream. And shallots are always good :)
