Food What's For Dinner Tonight?

    I haven't gone to an all-you-can eat place since becoming vegan, so I haven't run through all the possibilities yet.

    Generally, these are the things I like:

    • Edamame
    • Asparagus roll
    • Avocado roll
    • Cucumber roll
    • Daikon (radish) roll
    • Inari (the bean curd rice pocket thing)
    • Vegetable tempura (asking about eggs in the batter first)
    • Deep fried or tempura tofu
    • Yam tempura roll
    • Miso soup (asking first about added bonito)
    • Wakame salad
    • Vegetable fried yakisoba (avoiding oyster sauce)


    Things to ask about are usually added eggs and fish/oyster sauce.

    Leftover from a week ago and frozen, Al Rokers Chili with some rice and sour cream...where the hell is that recipe...???
    Right now it's Bloody Mary time made with Mrs T's, that's good before chili, right....

    I knew the restaurant I went to was vegan-friendly. I thought that meant non-dairy menu items and easy "hold the dairy" options.

    I didn't know they catered to vegans....

    They even have faux chicken and steak strips. So when I ordered my sopes with faux steak, the waitress asked, "So vegan?" When I said yes, I thought that means she was going to leave off the cheese and sour cream. I thought they made a mistake when they brought it out. But no, it was garnished with tasty vegan cheese and sour cream.

    This place is awesome.
