Food What's For Dinner Tonight?

    I'm crippled by options. Overwhelmed by choices. I restocked yesterday and could make any number of things. I'm thinking that I'll make a mushroom ragu for on top of some riced cauliflower.

    Borla, the broccoli looks way overcooked :eek: . The steak looks damn near perfect.

    My bachelor dinner was: Leftover oven roasted potatoes, almonds, & dark chocolate chips. Which was a perfect followup to my lunch of a peanutbutter sandwich & a glass of milk. At least I remembered to take all of my vitamins ;).

    It was sautéed in garlic and onions, which is why it looks different. Not like the normal steamed/boiled. :)

    Uppsala, Sweden
    Tuesdays, I leave work early to pick up the kids at daycare. So I have time for play and to cook awesome meals!
    This was yesterday:

    Marinate cherry tomatoes and sugar snaps in EVO+crushed fresh basil+2 crushed garlic cloves

    Grate alot of cheese (grana Padano or similar), mix with cream, salt, pepper, garlic.

    Steam cauliflower and broccoli, use leftover water(+salt) to cook Spinach-Tagiatelli

    Cut up venison in thin, thin slices.

    Bring the cheese/cream to a boil, throw in the marinated tomatoes and sugar snaps, bring up to boil again.

    Throw in the venison in the cheese/cream, stir. Remove from stove as soon as the venison changes color.

    Serve.

    My kids (ages three and four-and-half) LOVED it! I ate WAY too much.

    Tonight: crustless quiche with goat cheese, sauteed leeks, and zucchini.

    Last nights dinner was pretty basic but tasty:

    Ground beef 90/10 patties (seasoned with chopped onions, garlic, soy sauce, worcestershire sauce, & cayene pepper), broiled then topped with thick slices of cheddar cheese. French fries (fresh, cut thick). Mixed veggies.

    It was. I was pleasantly surprised as to how good it was. No weird organ meat flavors, just a very beefy one.

    This probably belongs in the bitching & complaining thread, but I'll post it here.

    After 27 years of marriage it still annoys me that my wife insists on having her meat cooked well-done. It's a PITA :mad: to cook & time steaks so that mine is medium rare and hers is well-done.

    My first wife insisted on all her meat burnt.
    The kids tell me she's gotten a little better about it but it made me crazy.
    Totally understand how you feel.
    It did teach me how to cook meat though.

    My wife has become slightly more tolerant of a little pink in the meat (lollipop pitch), but just a little. If I ever found myself back in the dating game, and a woman I was cooking for insisted on having her steak (or whatever other cut of meat is best served cooked medium or more rare) cooked well-done, I would tell her you're going to have to cook it yourself.
