Slow baked whole chicken seasoned with lots of onion & garlic.
Rice w/ a hand full of peas thrown in.
A vegetable yet to chosen, perhaps green beans seasoned with chopped bacon.
Ginger snap cookies and Blue Bell coffee ice cream for desert. Or fresh strawberries (we need to eat 'em or freeze 'em before they go off) with the coffee ice cream.

Real shepherd's pie, or cottage pie?

Closer to shepherd's pie than cottage pie--he's vegetarian.

My wife is a transplanted Brit. She cooks a mean cottage pie, does her own crust (ruff puff pastry?). Real shepherd's pie is a rarity because lamb is expensive. There are times when we have leftover lamb roast that'll go into a pie.

Now I have a craving for some real butcher haggis. Lots of organ meat, not the stuff made with way too much oats & grains. Oh yeah.

Shepherd's pie is made with lamb.

Cottage pie is made with beef, or actually just about any meat that isn't lamb. My wife usually uses ground beef, or sometimes leftovers from a beef roast, or pork roast.

The pork ribs are in the fridge marinating in a mix of worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, & Tobasco sauce. Later I'm going to slow bake them (too cold & rainy outside for charcoal grilling, & I want a break from broiled meat) with some BBQ sauce, do some baked potatoes (in the oven, not the microwave), and a veggie to be determined.

    I have no idea...
Probably going to have to wing-it tonight, focusing on my pup who just got out of surgery.

I made hot and sour mushroom and cabbage soup from The Kitchn's recipe but made it paleo with ground beef instead of rice and no soy. It was just what I needed.

House special at....well, my house. Flat-iron steak (medium for the cubs, mid rare for Mrs Moose) on grilled onions, with roasted potato medley.

Elk sausage, baked potatoes, & lima beans.

The sausage was seasoned with jalapenos & cheese. I can eat cheese, can eat jalapenos, can eat them together, but I have a big problem if they're cooked together. The lining of my stomach gets inflamed for about two days, and no OTC med that I've ever tried will touch it. Tomorrow will tell.

    Woo hoo!

The jalapeno & cheese isn't bothering me at all.
