Magicka is an awesome game and it does really shine when playing with others.

It is pretty cheap right now, but it's one of those games that has a tendency to go on sale for 90% off. I'm betting it will go cheaper during the Christmas sale.

I could be wrong, though, and $2.50 isn't much to drop for such a great game.

i checked the magicka thing on amazon; it's pretty good. it's 5$ for the game and all dlc, and you also get a 5$ credit toward a later purchase on pc games on amazon... so if you get newer games at all, it'd end up free...

I've got a group I've been running with for my first playthrough. I picked up the game on the recommendation of a very old, dear friend and I think he's making it his personal responsibility to see that I enjoy it. At level 20 so far, without getting too spoiler-y things are really taking off at Sanctuary.

Last night I decided that I wanted to take a few minutes break from work, so I fired up Minecraft on my Macbook. This may have been a mistake. When playing Minecraft I inevitably get too cocky and die deep in some cave while carrying a bunch of valuables. I then have to continually attempt to get back to where I was and reclaim my stuff. It's a problem. More than one world has been deleted because of it. The creepers will not best me this time.

My husband is really into Minecraft. He started his own server recently. I just can't get into it. Ever since he started the server, he's tried to convince me to play. Not happening.

The HowTo Geek website just published a list of the top free First Person Shooters, here.

I've been working my way through the list. Team Fortress 2 never did anything for me, I could never get my head around the cartoony graphics; I used to play Warrock quite a bit and it's pretty good. I tried out Alliance of Valiant Arms, but found it to be too much of a frag-fest for other players. I'm downloading Blacklight Retribution now and will review it later.

it worked pretty well for me for a week or so and then i had a weird problem w/ my pc... my hard drive and desktop were wiped in front of my eyes. 90% of my files were gone. it was weird because there were a lot of things that remained. i looked around online and didn't see anything similar happening to anyone else so i don't know if i got a virus or what.

i doubt it had anything to do w/ the razer program but thought i'd pass that along.

GOG is also having a kickass sale. I just got Icewind Dale, Icewind Dale 2, and Baldur's Gate 2 as an early Christmas present...I'll be starting with Icewind Dale and working my way through :D

(before today, I was immersed in Tropico 2. Which I also got on GOG.)

Indeed it is, and it kicked off with some fantastic sales.

Borderlands 2 is fantastic. The Hitman franchise, Absolution hasn't been very well received but I will personally endorse Blood Money as a fantastic game that's aged quite well. I'd also recommend Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (though I wasn't as impressed with Warrior Within or The Two Thrones, and haven't played the others). In fact, if you don't own Sands of Time and you don't spend the $2.50 to pick it up I'd have to say I pity you as a sad, sad gamer. Do it. You won't regret it. And Mirror's Edge, well, Baraka_Guru will tell you how great that one is. My biggest complaint about Mirror's Edge is that it is quite short, with the runner up being that some of the combat situations the game throws you into can be a bit frustrating. But it's good, and it's a unique concept, and it's surprisingly well executed as a first person platformer-style game.

For the flash sales, if you don't own Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City, you need to buy those. Just do it. Don't hesitate, don't ask questions. These are the first and only games I've ever played that truly encapsulate what it is to be a super hero. The gadgets are fun, the combat system is flawlessly executed, and the storylines are pretty neat too.

gog.com is also a great site.

Honestly, all these online vendors and their holiday sales. It's like they hate me. Or just really love my money. Probably the second one.

I just finished the new XCOM game. It was great!

I also picked up the two Batman games on Steam for a total of about $13. Yahoo Steam sales!

Do it. That game has huge replay value. It's one of the few games I have consistently played since it came out and I bought it...which was, what, 9 years ago?

i beat Dishonored a few weeks back. kinda wish it had more of a mirror's edge feel instead of bioshock. it was still awesome though. definitely top 10 games ever
