What things have you said that hurt your SO?

The last relationship started nicely and ended after 5 years by my side with something pretty heavy like
"I don't think you have ever loved me. I don't think you are even capable of love after-all in that grotesque mechanic mind you have as a brain. I pity your next boyfriend that will try to make you fall in love while he will find himself trying to balance the ends of an equation in your mind."

I don't know if it hurt, I think not so much, and maybe because I was right.

This relationship started with something like
"Promise me you will be honest. Always. For everything."

Honesty is something that hurts, A LOT.

On the way to now I've said a lot of tremendous things, but fundamentally because I'm trying to be completely honest and even helpful.
Something that she was a lot hurt and upset about was my opinion about her parents and about her girlfriends. Opinion that is now even she is starting to consider.

Today something not so good about her studies: she is complaining about her learning of foreign languages she is studying, and I said to her to stand up and start running because the only way one can learn a foreign language in a decent way is reading hundreds of books, writing hundreds of pages, talking (and listening) for thousands of hours with native of pseudo-native speakers, and not hoping that studying some literature and being lectured for some hours a week is enough for become fluent in something difficult as German (starting from Italian). Looking at all the effort I went by to obtain this travesty of English I almost feel insulted when a student tell me "I will never be able", and I told her.

I'm very crude, completely ignoring about "white lies" and politeness in some moments. I don't know how my GF can still want me.

 

If I could go back and list all the things I said... Maybe I should write a book! Let me say we are together still, and our marriage is better than ever.

Worst of the worst was admitting to an affair. A simple yes, was the most hurtful thing ever. Why she stayed, and how we got through it, is amazing to say the least.

 

OMG, I can't believe it took me this long to get this complisult.
