I used the above quote from another thread because I didn't want to insert politics into that thread (someone else does...frequently).

There are people (some I know) who would question why a person would feel the need to say they are not part of the groups they claim to support. That's a legitimate point, and some of the explanations are equally legitimate.

I live in a state where a display of LGBTQ rainbow support (I have no idea what the proper term is) could lead to confrontations and I don't mean just verbal ones*. You don't have to get very far outside of Houston proper to find people who think good white heterosexual Christians (many are Christian in thought only) should force their GWHC beliefs on others.

    * BTW for the same reason I don't wear shirts or hats that call NPD Trump an asshole criminal and question the intelligence of his supporters.

More often than not the reason I'm letting folks know that I'm a old, fat, cishet, lower middle class, #ffffff, dude, who has spent most of my life in a trailer park, is because I want to show we are not all homophobic assholes.
It also puts the people spouting anti-LGBTQ bullshit with similar life profiles on the back foot when they insist they are the 'normal' ones.
No buddy, you are not normal.
    You are a bigot.

We have right-wing assholes in Alaska too but by-in-large we tend to be live and let live.
Living in Texas must be interesting.
I have a friend who lives in Austin. She loves it and hates it all at the same time.

I can certainly understand what your friend means.. Texas is great in many ways, and 1950s redneck in many other ways.

Houston has a good mix of ethnicities, and has (had?) the 2nd largest gay community in the US. We're also in Harris County, which is blue.

Things change just a short distance from Houston. I'm not talking about overt hostility, although it can happen. It's more like unwritten & unspoken rules, such as you don't discuss gay issues, or express support for Black Lives Matter.

Of course it could be the quality of my family members & friends .

Your typical crazy from the right these days.
They're very anti-Federal and will do oulandish things for any "gotcha" on the other side or federal powers.
    Including many judges.

It will more than likely be overturned, too broad.

Larry Nassar has been stabbed in prison, again.

Source: Nassar stabbed multiple times in prison

    Yet he survived, again.

Is justice him living for decades fearing for his life?
Perhaps he started a fight hoping to be killed?

    *********
Would NPD Trump be at the same risk level if he goes to a federal prison?

Many criminals in prison suffered from molestation in their youth...so they often go after molesters violently. It's not uncommon.

T would be at risk differently, he'd likely be in danger from being killed becauce he could talk.
    A. Being the asshole that he is.
    B. That he cannot keep secrets, so there would be a hit put out on him.

T would likely be separated from the rest...so the SS could keep him safe.

My question re NPD Trump being at risk wasn't quite literal, and wasn't quite rhetorical.

    Of course
he would be separated and protected.

He would most likely be the
    most expensive inmate
in US history (for the time he served).

And of course at this time
    all of this is hypothetical,
    & even worse
    will most likely be moot.

  12. Been on a kick of shows and documentaries about criminality and the prison/welfare/drug problems in the world. It's basically a "game" of pick whether they were sexually abused, don't have a father (or mother), got on/access to drugs way too young, and/or super super super fucking poor. Like thousands I've seen in the last couple of months, and I can only think of two that didn't have any of those (or admit to it) that were profiled.

It's almost like broken kids become broken adults. Whose fault is that? Hm.

I work with people with disabilities and so many of them have records because they didn't get the support and care they needed when they were young.
And since we treat people with records and mental issues worse than animals, more often than not they wind up back in prison.
The US prison system is the main provider of mental health care here.
This country is terrible when it comes to mental health.

Spend money on social programs and mental health to help people avoid turning to crime? That's crazy woke talk!

The big thing in the not so great state of Texas (either the worst state for social & mental health spending, or close to) is tax cuts. When we have budget surplus the first thing our Republican leaders mention is more tax cuts. Gawd forbid we consider using that money for education, social programs, & mental health (and making the energy companies take their profits to upgrade our power grid).

An old legal play used by those who don't face any real consequences for breaking the law.

Of course it helps Alabama that the SCOTUS didn't hand down any clear instructions.

Biden to sign executive order stripping military commanders of oversight in sexual assault cases - UPI.com

    This' long overdue.

    Two examples, close to me.

She grew up and attended school a few miles from where I live.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sutherland_Springs_church_shooting

The military dumped an obviously disturbed and violent Devin Patrick Kelley back into civilian society. And covered up his discharge status, per an intentionally defiant and illegal policy.

Edit: I haven't had the Delayed Posting Issue in quite some time, but apparently it's back, at least for the above post re Elon Musk.

Since I'm editing a duplicate post I'll try to add something to make it a new post.

If you read down into the article there's some interesting comments about homophobia in Italy's official policies.

Elon's latest tweet about how ultra based George Orwell was, shows just how unaware he is of history.
Orwell was a socialist and would have found everything about Musk absolutely disgusting.
