This early live recording was most likely re-re-re-rehearsed to get the best sound possible and also "cleaned up" after the recording. It's even possible they're faking it, but it looks & sounds live to me.

I'm going to look for an early video of Springsteen performing his version live.

This Bruce Springsteen live version from 1978 has very clearly been "cleaned up." IIRC it's from an official live recording that was sent to radio stations but at the time was not released for sale. It was very widely bootlegged. Or I could be confusing with the "Christmas" live recording; it's possible they are one & the same.

I was listening to this recently and have it playing now. Dio is fine voice. Blackmore for the most part doesn't dominate the songs by making his playing the focus (he more than makes up for it on the On Stage live album). IMO the outstanding musician here is drummer Cozy Powell.

One of the joys of searching through the used record bins is finding records that have never been opened, even better when they are bands you love and never thought you would find their stuff on vinyl, even more so when the band hasn't been together for years.
I found The Distillers first album unopened, with Brody Dale snarling at me from the back.
If you haven't heard them imagine if the Sex Pistols had Lydia Lunch as their lead singer.
