Single malt ... Islay - undisclosed because it is ASDA's (Walmart's) own brand ....... 40ml shot in 450ml of diet coke.

It sure ain't anything to write home about, it ain't no Laphroaig, and certainly not something to drink by itself or next to a glass of beer, but it DOES give little peaty single-malt ALCY-HITS of the sort that only a peaty single-malt can give. Suspended in the diet coke, they leap out like Greeks from a black and fizzy Trojan Horse as soon as the get into my mouth. Just the way I like it.

At home, after a magnificent 13 mile walk around Autumn parkland with undulating landscape and trails, various textures underfoot, and rutting stags all over the place, their antlers making them look like Druidic Nature priests, who wear antlers on their heads to make them look like stags, but more realistic. One of them was uttering a Challenge To The World And Everything In It ... A groaning Moooo, followed by a series of 'chugs' that my lady-friend said sounded like someone had told him a joke that deer would find funny.

I had a dim imagining of a second stag turning round and saying to the first, "Blimey - you must be psychic ... that's just what I was going to say."
