No problem, @NobleDeb. I'm so cold right now that I can't even feel my ass anymore. Brrrrr.

    That sounds awesome.

I asked my husband last weekend at Costco if we could buy a giant jar of herring. He demurred. I tried to argue that it was my heritage feeding my herring addiction. People around us were gawping at me wanting to eat herring. I felt sorry for them. Herring is delicious.

It's also fucking good for you: high in omega-3 and low in mercury.

Why the fuck do people eat so much tuna? It doesn't even taste nearly as good, and it's loaded with mercury and lacking in omega-3.

People have got their shit backwards. (Again.)

I would never eat tuna straight out of the can. But golden smoked herring? Damn straight.

Eating an entire brined herring is a rite of passage in my family, one I hope to continue with my own children: Soused herring - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia My cousin more or less refused to eat the herring. My grandfather was embarrassed by his refusal, and before I went to stay with my great-uncle in the Netherlands, I practiced with smoked herring. The brined herring was tasty and delicious. I'll never forget eating it, either. We were on the main boulevard in Zandvoort, a Dutch beach resort, looking down at the beach on a beautiful sunny day, enjoying the brisk breeze off of the North Sea, and we stopped at a herring shack there so I could have mine. My uncle had a look of challenge in his eye after my cousin's failure, but I just shrugged and ate my herring.

I would probably enjoy brined herring. I have probably seen them around, but I normally get the Brunswick canned sardines/herring. These dominate the Canadian market. I normally choose the sardines in spring water with no salt added, but lately I've been craving smoked fish.

I'll probably start seeing jars of herring pop out at me when I'm at the grocery store now. I may be tempted to grab one. :p

Looks like someone beat you to it, @NobleDeb! I was rear ended earlier today by someone else.

Of course, I was in my car at the time and the guy that hit me really wasn't my type...

Whatever I'm craving today, I want it on a warm, sunny beach. Preferably in a place where the natives have 16 different words for sand and none for snow.

Last night, it was ice cream. I mentioned it to my husband before he went out for an event. I thought he would forget, since I just mentioned it in passing. Nope. He came home with Moose Tracks Mint Chocolate. SOOOO GOOD.

This morning, I'm craving a big ol' mess of scrambled eggs.
