What are you comfortable loaning to friends?

I typically don't loan, I give. I don't expect a return. Exception being children's books and toys between my sister, sis-in-law, and myself. Wehave a very reasonable exchange that takes place between us. I still am comfortable with never seeing those items again but they have thus far been returned in reasonable condition.

I, like a lot of people here it seems, am pretty relaxed about lending things to my friends and family. I generally kiss things goodbye when i lend them and am surprised when they come back. Obviously, I'm only talking small items like money, books, i lent my pregnant friend two packing boxes full of dvds a few months ago because she wasn't working anymore and I'm out of town.
I'd have no problems lending my car to close friends. Although, in recent years I've only had a junker in town noone would want to borrow.
And I in fact "lent" my house to my little sister when i went to Europe for a couple of months. She wanted to move out of home with the boyfriend, so i let them stay together in the house to see if they were compatible before they started wasting money on rent or got in debt to the banks.
