    It's possible this couple would be embarrassed to learn that their child was asking for gifts on their behalf. It's also possible that child (or another) set up the gift registry. I would go hide if I knew my kids had done that.

    Was there any sort of a reception or event associated with this gift-grab?​
    I'm pretty confused. If I got something in the mail like you described, I would assume that an invite for a vow renewal was lost in the mail. I would speak with the couple to clarify, and to ask what they would like to see from me. I'm inclined to make people gifts if I don't have it in the budget to buy something from their registry.​
