I agree with Fox News for once... I feel dirty.

There needs to be a lot more research into this topic and why some relationships work with a powerful, 'take charge' woman, yet others work great with a submissive wife looking to make her husband feel great. Males are totally innocent, and the idiot abusers and aggressors are who needed neutering. But now you have a 60% divorce rate and lots of single mothers who 'don't need a man', and men you will never date single mothers or nagging bitches.

If you look at relationships where the woman grew up outside of the US or some parts of Europe, they have a different attitude towards relationships for sure.

Instead of looking for a scapegoat to blame for the decline in Christmas, the Christians need to look inward as to what they can do to encourage other people to follow their example and want to celebrate the holidays. And complaining and bitching won't improve things very much.

    No bitchin' 'bout bitching.

As many state the notion of Xmas is peace...in truth, many do not consider others.
Focusing on the rules & tradition, not on the idea of sharing time...or of themselves...or of compromise.

Can't the holidays just be about being with your loved ones?
A celebration of time on Earth and with each other.

If people could translate this more into their everyday lives and interactions with other...then there would be less to blame.

I suppose there is evidence enough to now conclude that atheists have taken Jesus out of every US holiday.

New Year's Day (A holiday that offends Jesus by virtue of the celebratory drunkenness and pagan debauchery the night before)

St Valentine's Day (A religious holiday where love amounts to candy and jewelry offered in exchange for blow jobs)

St Patrick's Day (A religious holiday where homosexuals have the unmitigated gall to parade down city streets with fire and police brigades, priests, and leprechauns)

Easter (A religious holiday where Jesus rises from the dead as a bunny delivering baskets full of candy and marshmallow peeps)

Memorial Day (A holiday commemorating those who have lost their lives defending our freedom by getting too drunk to remember how we got home from the cookout instead of praying to Jesus )

Independence Day (A holiday commemorating freedom from British tyranny by shooting fireworks into our neighbor's backyard instead of praying to Jesus)

Halloween (All Hallows Eve) (A holiday that obviously glorifies Satan instead of Jesus)

Thanksgiving (A holiday centered around food, family and gratitude, often without the invocation of God and Jesus from whom all foodie blessings flow )

Christmas (The Big Kahuna where every fucking year those miserable commie atheists slaughter the baby Jesus in his humble manger)

Halp! Halp meh! Oh, the Thread Jack Bear Trap (TM) has seized my leg! Watch as I thrash about:

Can you explain the "males are totally innocent" part? I think the whole marriage/divorce dynamic in the US has more to do with the erosion of the value of the nuclear family (and its permanence) plus general impulsiveness and the related entitlement. Such things apply to both men and women. Men are hardly innocent. As I spent way too long babbling about in that "Fight Club" thread last year, we have an entire generation of men that are being told to be hypermasculine in a world where pistol duels at dawn and tearing maidenheads in the evening are now not only out of style but illegal. I've spent my whole life trying to make sense of What It Is to Be a Man and I've determined that Stoic Pirate Lumberjack Samurai isn't the complete existence.

Hrrrm, the two foreign girls I dated for a bit were a lot less interested in marriage / family than the American girls I've been with over the years.

They were travelers and were only interested in having fun. I think the "American girls are bitches" argument is a gross over-generalization.

It seems your rose-colored glasses are stuck in in the '50s back when white America was productive and wholesome and beautiful.

I love my family, but the image they're starting to pass around on Facebook that reads "It's Not Happy Holidays, It's Merry Christmas" kind of pisses me off.

Yeah, sure...it's Merry Christmas to Christians. Fuck all the rest. (Let's also not forget that holidays is from the Old English meaning "holy day" so it's not even anti-Christian. What's more is that there is more than one Christian "holy day" during this time of year.)

If any of them say Merry Christmas to me, I'm now tempted to respond: "Thanks, but I'm not a Christian."

Normally I wouldn't care, but it's like they just drew a line in the sand.

I swear, this whole War on Christmas? Christians do this to themselves.

Underlying the reasons they give for insisting what the holiday MUST be called, is the insidious, year long practice of converting the non-believer. The fine print is so small, most of those doing the insisting that "It's Not Happy Holidays, It's Merry Christmas" aren't even aware of it's larger intent.

The poor sheep. I smile and move on.

Oh, I'm not sure it's always about conversion (though I'm sure it's prevalent). What I do understand is that to be a Christian is to "know" that Christ as Lord and Saviour is an inalienable "truth."

It's this assumption, taken as truth, that guides many to say things like "Jesus is the reason for the season," and "Don't take the Christ out of Christmas, and "It's Merry Christmas, not Happy Holidays."

It's not "happy holidays" because it's not about any other Christian observance, or the New Year, Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, or, God forbid, winter solstice. (Yet if you think about it, if there were a "reason for the season," you'd think winter solstice would be the thing that marked it.)

i was invited to go play with a chainsaw yesterday, but it would have involved xmas trees and boyscouts so i thought better of it.

the devil on one shoulder said: the idea of playing with a chainsaw appeals to you..

the devil on the other said: but what exactly does it mean, "playing with a chains saw"?

i said: there's a limited set of options. one cuts things or one does not cut things with a certain insouciance. cuttting things is better. so what are the options? building boyscouts self.

i began to suspect a ruse.
so i flicked away the devils and went back to sleep.

powerful thinking like this has enabled me to avoid xmas.

If its Christmas, it must be time for Fox and Trump to dust off the war on the "Ground Zero" Mosque again.
