  1. I love doggies.

4 years ago today we lost one. Then last year ago in Feb. his brother was gone. Geez, I miss them both.

I've lost 2 in the past 3 years as well. It's tough to go through, and often times, much worse than dealing with the death of a human.

One of these days, I'm going to have a full-out wrestling match with Stanley. And then we'll take a nap, and I'll use him as a pillow.

    He would be thrilled. :p

We have a handful of friends that always wrestle with him when they come over, they are his favorite people. A couple of them he gets excited about if he even hears their name. :D

My Maggie gets thrilled when she hears the ringtone I have set up for my friend.
Her tail wags so hard it nearly knocks her over.

My last Newf was named Picabo, prononced peek a boo. My sister called me up seriously pissed one day. Seems she was trying to play with her toddlers and her dogs went ballistic every time she tried to play the game.

Molly is pretty docile, Picabo even more so. When my daughters were younger, some drunk teenager took a (fake?) swing at my daughter. Without training, Picabo dove at him, hit him in the chest and flattened him. She laid on his chest, growling at his throat, until my daughter pulled her off. Good girl. I suspect Stanley would do the same.

Molly loves to play rough, her and Stanley would probably demolish a room wrestling, look back at their owners and sat "we're just having fun".

Our English Mastiff plays the same way with kids. I will certainly look for a Mastiff again. I'm in love with them.

Phew! I was worried when I saw the thread title. But now I have seen your assailant!

Bull Mastiff ... one of my favouites. Butch, the bull mastiff and I were best friends when I was nine. Reminds me of yours. Lovely doggie :) Oh ... and arm held in mouth, then fist down dog's throat ... I know that one. A local Alsatian, "Killer" and I piss off his 'owner' by demonstrating unsanctioned friendship.

Forgive me, but despite being married into a British family, I still can't help but chuckle every time I hear Alsatian instead of GSD (German Shepherd Dog). I understand the reasoning behind it, and I'm not sure why it amuses me, but it does. Iirc, the UK kennel club even renamed the breed entirely to Alsatian Dog, which makes me wonder if you call German bakers Alsatian bakers or German engineers Alsatian engineers etc :p

  10. Hes a lovely mate you have there Borla - and I hope you are sharing comments with him. We had carpet fitters in last month, and Kingston quite worried one of them........ then one of them told me he was on his knees carpeting, and he knew there was a Great Dane there - what he didnt know, what his mates could see was the dog airhumping (like airguitar but without thumbs) behind him. Suddenly he felt a large pair of paws on his shoulders and steaming hot breath on the back of his neck as the canine lothario moved in for not quite the kill. Like Stanley, Kingston saves his bark.

  12. Heard last night they are putting mastiffs with lurchers to breed dogs for badger baiting! Much better life for a dog to be like Stanley I think. Pity so many end up with ass holes who fail to see or truley value what they have. Mans best friend.
