I've heard they are really stinky, @Charlatan.
On the 1-10 scale, how stinky?

They are supposed to smell really bad. I heard they are not allowed on the subway in Singapore (is that true Charlatan?) but I have not heard of that rule here in Toronto.

the fruit is rubbery / bland and sweet at the same time. the seeds can be pulled out and boiled/mashed like potatoes. Ate this a lot in Sri Lanka.

Funny, the Durian is called King of the Fruits here. That said, I can see why Jackfruit would be called that, as it is huge. What do you think of Chempedak?

As for the smell, Durians can be very stinky. There are different types (much like there are different types of apples) and some are more smelly than others. The smaller ones, like the ones in the photo, tend to be sweeter and less stinky. The larger ones can be quite rank. That said, I now associate the smell with my life in Asia and find it comforting.

As with the apples, they vary in flavour between types. Some are sweet and some are more onion-y and bitter.

The flesh of the durian is smooth and custardy.

They are banned from public transit.

Not this time. This time they were more New York style.

I have to say, they were probably the best ones I've made to date. The crumb was perfect.

us my colleague told me that durian is tastier than Jack fruit. And that one would either love it or hate it because of the strong taste.
I had not even heard of Chempedak.

My reference to the king of fruits is specific to India. I fondly mentioned because being from poor background eating fruits like apples and grapes were few times in my entire childhood. But these native fruits we ate every season and we ate lots.

I will taste both durian and Chempedak when I get a chance.

@GeneticShift joined me for New Year's Eve with my parents. Driving back from our trip to see them, we spotted these two bald eagles in a cornfield beside the road snacking on a deer carcass.

We also spotted a snowy owl perched on one of the lane indicator signs on the westbound span of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. We didn't get a picture of him, but based on recent sighting posts (one of which featured the two pictures below), I think it might very well be the same bird.

Definitely not. Here's the thing: people assume that if you like hentai, you must be a fan of tentacle porn. And while I've certainly enjoyed watching La Blue Girl in all its tentacled glory, it is not something I make a habit of, nor is it something I want to emulate.

I was just kidding. Sounds like you have enough action built into your story already. :)

Everybody knows it's cold out side. It was minus 23 this morning. Wind chill is pushing Minus 39 (which is awfully damn close to the same temperature in Fahrenheit). It's so cold even stuffed bunnies can't cope:
