"That" is life in northern Australia. Big blue skies and running creeks. A lot prettier than where I used to live

Anywhere near Darwin? I spent a month or so in Darwin years back.

About 1000 miles south west of Darwin. Close to Broome.
I took them last week near Willare Bridge Roadhouse, if that means anything to anyone. It's basically just a fuel stop that has bedrooms and camping sites for rent.
I like Darwin. In fact, I like the entire Northern Territory. I want to buy a property there.

Darwin treated us great. Darwin and Brisbane were about the only two port on a world cruise we had to wear our uniforms (US Navy) We puled out of Surabaya Indonesia and three days later we could see the lights of Darwin. That night they issued the "port of call" orders and regulations. All the previous ports we'd been allowed to wear civilian clothes if not on official duty. In Darwin, then later Brisbane, the uniform of of the day everyday called for "Dress Whites." Everyone who read that groaned, everyone who'd not been on liberty in Australia anyway. Those of us who hadn't been were not happy. Not until we hit town. We couldn't buy a drink. Everywhere we went people were thanking us for "saving our arses in WWII." This was 1983 and I was 20 so i had nothing to do with WWII. But I took the free beers and hard cider. Young ladies would approach us on the street and either invite us home or write their phone number on our hands. Brisbane was good too but Darwin was fantastic. I think we lost about 10% of our crew because they never returned to the ship when it left Brisbane for New Caledonia. In New Caledonia the French treated us like unwanted dogs.
