    Out w my Lady, her Youngling Lad, and some friends walking the dog on a lovely August day in High Park here in Toronto. The beast led us through patches of stinging nettles which are still tingling away on my shins 10 hours later. During the stroll, from time to time I stopped to look up. That can be a rewarding experience as the photo testifies. The nettles - not so much.

    Ya know, I don't believe I've ever had boiled peanuts. It is definitely a southern thing, you can't even get them here. And I've never stopped at the little stands when I've been down in the southeast. I love to crack open and eat peanuts at ball games. I'm going to have to try them next time I'm down Florida way.

    That's actually the only place I think I've seen them. When we drive down to Destin/PCB area we see them alongside the road in southern Alabama and into the panhandle.

    Next time I shall stop and have one while thinking of Craven Morehead and mixedmedia.

    Saw the signs along the highway. Piqued my interest. Stopped by a grocery for some fresh fruit and saw these in a cooler. Surprised they need to be refridgerated. Definitely a totally different taste than roasted peanuts. Tastes a lot like other legumes (beans). I'm partial to salty snacks, these are friggin addictive.

    Why aren't these sold in the north?

    I just found that Amazon sells boiled peanuts. I may have to splurge out of pure curiosity.
