TSA leaves note "Get Your Freak On Girl" for vibrator in luggage

No question that this is terribly unprofessional behaviour and the agent who did this needs to be disciplined. Frankly, he or she should be fired. There is simply no room for TSA agents to be doing anything like this that might make passengers uncomfortable - not when their jobs already represent a violation of privacy in the first place.

Should this one instance be used to judge the TSA as a whole? I'd argue yes. The fact is, these inspectors are not highly trained and educated FBI agents. Instead, these are people recruited through advertisements on pizza boxes that read, "A Career Where X-Ray Vision and Federal Benefits Come Standard." Incidents like this one are the direct result of the TSAs terribly flawed strategy, both in terms of hiring and security.

I'm with Plan9 on this. Heads should roll...swiftly. Personally, I think the TSA as an agency is a joke. A couple of times a year at least there are news reports of theft and lately there have been news reports of totally ignorant treatment of disabled or ill passengers.

I'm sometimes searched a little more closely than I'd like to be. I keep waiting for the snapping sound of that rubber glove.

Seriously, if this is true, disciplinary measures need to be taken. If they aren't, the whole organisation is at fault for condoning it.

This 'note' is nothing compare to if she had been in Alabama or Texas. The 'government' could have arrested her. That is what we should be outraged at. Not some silly note.

So, initially she was not offended at all, just decided to get someone in trouble? No wonder she has to rely on compensatory equipment.

 

I think it's extremely sad that whoever did this is likely to lose his job over it. In a lot of ways, all he did was to make what we all know (that the TSA goes through your luggage) more obvious.

Some TSA motherfucker stole a necklace from my mom's suitcase (not that she was smart to fly with a nice necklace in her suitcase), and nothing happened to him. This person made a fairly innocuous joke and is getting a lot of heat. Pretty stupid.

 

It was considerably more than 'making it obvious', it was proving that they lack the tact and maturity to be professional in their duty.
