Factors definitely; acceptable reasons definitely not.

I don't understand the automatic respect for former presidents. They were/are mortal men, some very flawed , with varying degrees of success.

Except Jimmy Carter, he is a national treasure.

I really like & respect Jimmy Carter as a man dedicated to being a good human being, but as POTUS not so much. He does deserve the honorific Mr. President title.

Carter got handed a raw deal as prez, but he also made the same mistake Obama did...expecting others to play nice.
But it's what he did outside the office that's incredible and commendable.

Meanwhile his antithesis has been smacked across the face again.
Judge rejects Trump’s bid for a mistrial in the NY civil fraud suit | CNN Politics

    No soup for you!!

Yes, the judge doesn't like you...BUT you also did everything to prove his actions.
So it's unlikely that an appeal will go your way. BTW, New York does not like ya anymore...all levels, another reason why it will likely fail
Hint: Don't do the crime. Don't piss off the judges and court. Don't diss the state you're doing business in.

However, no matter what bias is actually there...the laws ARE being followed and enforced. As are all the legal proceedings.
You, your family and your company DID commit fraud. It is obvious and proven.
This is just figuring out how hard you're going to be hit by NY.

And once its done, you'll see how many lawsuits are going to hit your business, BOTH inside and outside NY.
It will be a line of dominoes...or sharks as they see blood in the water, easy money, revenge and it will all have precedent. (same rationale)
They will have the paperwork...and the stuff will be released. Again, not sealed...don't piss off the courts.

You think they care about your campaign if they can get easy cash???
You certainly wouldn't give them any break.
It's not personal, it's business (well, likely personal too...can't burn your bridges)

The judge can say "Hey, I let him (NPD Trump) talk, I didn't shut him down."

And continue with "He chose not to use his testimony to actually defend, and explain, his business practices. That is on him, it is not on me."

And he’ll look that much more a cad, now that she’s passed.

She was just a brave, giving and productive as Jimmy. And they had a passion in their relationship that is envious.

    RIP kind Rosalynn.

Former Trump Org. controller breaks down in tears on witness stand in fraud trial | CNN Politics

Some (many?) handwritten notes indicate that yes he was more involved preparing the financial reports than he originally testified.

I'm trying to find out more about the note "DJT TO GET FINAL REVIEW." The good news is this evidence doesn't rely on being interpreted by a jury.

    Here's the problem
Even if they quadruple the fine to a cool million....that's just a drop in the bucket for T.

The appeals court has to allow the Business Licenses to be revoked...and lock down ANY business activity in NYC
And hopefully this triggers multiple lawsuits by other governments and companies.
Otherwise, it's a painful cut on the leg, but no general infection to kill his businesses.

He has to be seen as a failed businessperson...because his fans think he keeps getting away with things against the system...and making money.
They hate the system....the federal system, so they want him "stiggin' it" to "them"
Until you actually take all the clothes away from the wannabe Emperor, he'll just get another suit made. He won't be nekkid for long.
It will be like his favorite hat blew away.

Frankly, I'm surprised the SEC and other fiscal agencies haven't gone after him yet.
If he did fraud here, he did it elsewhere, especially stocks and such.

Chump is booed at a South Carolina football game
Yes, it was Nikki Hayley's alma mater
    But even then
Doesn't seem to be appreciated outside the college even...well, she was governor there.

I wonder if Georgia's ire at him is leaking out.
I hope this spreads and then some...before the primaries.

Dare we hope something is actually done about NPD Trump (illegally...maybe) transferring funds?

After reading some reports on Alex Jones I'm getting more jaded about the courts efforts to seriously go after the money.

I'm not worried about getting the money. And it was the plaintifs that said they'll lower the amount, from what I read.
I'd rather they just cancel all his licenses and ability to do business in NY. Castrate the MF.

And the appellate court sez STFU !! :D
New York appeals court reinstates gag order against Donald Trump in civil fraud trial | CNN Politics

He just couldn't keep his mouth shut...and kept doing questionable things...and the hammer came down from above even his current judge.
Don't piss off the judges...and don't give them a reason...and keep giving them a reason.

Let's hope that this is a trend.
I want him squirming and making even more stupid plays and inane/insane words. (honestly I'd like him to STFU altogether and fade away, but this isn't going to happen)
The man is going to be kicking and screaming until the end.

Trump attacks wife of New York judge after gag order reinstated by court

Classless, and seemingly desperate, NPD Trump arracks the wife of Judge Engoron, and makes false accusations against her. And this doesn't violate the gag order.

Per the article NPD Trump does violate the gag order one hour after it was reinstated by again attacking the court clerk. Will he face any consequences for this?

Something in the article that's very interesting to me, since I'm concerned about his ability to reach so many people: He posted the new attacks on X (twitter). I don't follow NPD Trump, & I don't have a X account; I'm curious as to when NPD Trump returned to posting on X.

We have some civil cases filed against NPD Trump over Jan 06, but the courts are slow to (nearly refusing to) rule on them. More spineless avoidance in our judiciary.

Bid to hold Trump accountable for Jan. 6 violence stalls at appeals court

One year instead of the usual four months? That's a ridiculous delay. A ridiculous delay that is affecting these trials and could affect many others.

The war of attrition favors the side with the most money, in this case the defendants including NPD Trump.

Federal appeals court finds Trump not entitled to presidential immunity in Jan. 6 civil cases — for now

    No soup for you!!! :D

    Follow-up from before.
They finally got their act together.

I'm sure Chump is going to try for it to be judged by SCOTUS.
    He always pushes it.
