I wouldn't worry will, I don't think Torchwood will be renewed after Miracle Day. I've heard people were disappointed but I haven't seen it yet. I have relatively low expectations for Torchwood, so I'm sure I'll find it entertaining enough.

As for the anagram... pretty sure every Doctor Who fan knew that already ;P

cyn... if you do decide to watch Doctor Who, just remember while watching series 2 that Torchwood hadn't started yet. They drop the name a few times to tease the show and establish it in the Doctor Who universe.

imho: boring villains, meandering plot, very poor McGuffin, nonsensical, underdeveloped characters, painful to watch sex scenes, important unanswered questions, and it was the first time the series came to America. And when you compare it to Children of Earth, which was decent, it's even worse. Again, imho.

I know this is a really old thread but I have a burning need to talk about Torchwood, since it was made in my neighbourhood.
I work within mental health services and our local council sent a warning email to us to contact the clients that lived very near to where one of the episodes was being filmed, due to the fact there would be aliens walking around and they did not want anyone to think they were suffering from psychosis.

Wasn't this an HBO series? Some kind of western? Beyond that I know nothing.

Just doublechecked and that was called Deadwood. Thought perhaps that show might have been been this dr who spinoff somehow. Well that gets my interest. Last Dr Who I watched had that curly haired doctor but the newer takes sound good as well.

Yes it Tom Baker I was thinking of - that is the only person I know so to speak as the Dr. - they do have the newer ones on Netflix streaming so I might give those a try.

The newer ones are awesome, you will love them. I didn't take to Christopher Eccleston at all, but Matt Smith is cute.

If you are going to start watching Doctor Who, I would suggest that you start with the Eccleston episodes and work your way present from there.

If you really want to go back to the old episodes you can, but it's not necessary.

From the dates I checked earlier, anything past 1981 - which was not so old reruns when I saw them in my younger years - would be "new" to me. For that matter I hardly remember any details from the Tom Baker episodes aside from how cool the Tardis was and some rubber suited aliens.

It's true, there are quite a few seasons in Doctor Who after Tom Baker was The Doctor. I am glad that they pulled the plug on the original run and gave it a rest. The re-boot with Eccleston was great.

That said, you can certainly go back and fill in the blanks but starting with the re-boot is probably a little less time consuming and likely more rewarding.
