@ralphie250 , having a loyal pet for almost 17 years is truly a blessing, and I hope you realize it takes real courage to let a pet go out with dignity as you did. You did the right thing.

Since my wife's only interaction with them is to feed them (much like her interaction with me- BOOM!) they always stand up and see if she has anything for them to eat.

Duncan is a purebred male german shepherd. Parents are Hemi and Olive. 8 weeks old, just over 14 lbs. He has been glued to us since we brought him home yesterday afternoon. I have had a dog shaped hole in my heart since I had to put my black lab down approximately 6 years ago.

Screenshot_20191211-105841_Gallery.jpg Screenshot_20191211-105813_Gallery.jpg A couple more recent shots after a month. He is growing quickly, as he should. Only time I have seen him sleeping on his back ears are starting to come up, though they are not even yet. Maybe there is not enough room on his head yet. Eats like crazy, which is good considering his growth.

Screenshot_20200110-220153_Gallery.jpg As you can see, he is growing and filling out nicely. Smart dog, but headstrong. Some dogs want to please. He wants his own way. But he will work and learn. My fear is he is not very social with strangers. I have had him out several times in the past few weeks on walks and in petsmart. He is confident and not afraid, but he is not friendly to strangers. If they offer a hand then he will give a light sniff. If they try to pet him he will back up and bark. He will carefully take a treat if offered. He is going to be a big solid intimidating dog. I don't need him adding to that by being too standoffish. His first puppy training is tomorrow. He is 16 weeks right now. Hopefully he can loosen up a little.
