I'm going to give the same suggestion I have for close to 10 years. In the middle of summer, drive around and scope out local golf courses after dark to figure out when sprinklers turn on. Find an inconspicuous place to park, dress up in bathing suits and light clothing, and most likely between 11:00 and midnight, go over the hill to a place you can't be seen from the road and run around in the sprinklers. Keep away from sand traps because ... well, it will be obvious when it happens.

Public school ballfields work too, as do parks. Yes, I have actually done this.

I'm getting old. Doing something at 11pm? If it isn't sleeping it also isn't likely.

The guy I dated for most of my undergrad experience and I would find a restaurant randomly in the middle of nowhere (not hard to do in the Upper Peninsula), and go on an adventure. Tried to do it once a month. It was awesome.

I have to side with your hubby on the dislike of hotel rooms. We have found that we thoroughly enjoy B&Bs together. Relaxed atmosphere, a fun way to meet people if you don't mind sharing conversation with others, usually located in quaint little towns.

We often will do searches on restaurants and find a place we have never gone. Winter is always a little different, not as much to do. Massages, taking a bath together, playing a game, seeing a movie. In the summer it can be something as simple as grabbing some cold beverages, chairs and books and reading together at the beach, a little hike, walk to the ice cream shop, going for a drive or going to a scenic area and taking some photos.

We've been trying to have Movie Night once a week. We have Netflix and Amazon Prime, and we'll occasionally hit up Redbox.

Summer is so much better for date nights, I think. Mini golf, playing in the park, walking the dogs, night swimming, picnics, hiking, baseball games, and so on.

You had me at night swimming. Definitely adding that to the proverbial list.

Thanks for the bump on this thread, DamnitAll. We're both really busy right now with thesis + thesis, so time together has become a real priority again. We just outlined some movies we want to go see last night. Benedict Cumberbatch may or may not be in two out of three of them... ;)

The older you get the harder it is to figure out what to do on date night. Our "date nights" have become "swing nights", otherwise they are just an occasional dinner alone.

Even going out to a new bookstore or antique shop is kinda fun. Lunches out are great...cuz they are less expensive and no lines for a good table!
