A Batman impersonator who visited sick children in hospital has been killed on a US motorway.

Lenny B. Robinson was driving his "Batmobile" – a custom Lamborghini - on a Maryland motorway when it broke down on Sunday night.

The 51-year-old got out of the vehicle to check the engine when a passing car struck Mr Robinson’s car, which then hit him. He was pronounced dead at the scene, CNN reports.

Mr Robinson regularly visited children in hospitals across Maryland and Washington and spent thousands buying gifts and toys to give them.

A parrot in India's western state of Maharashtra was summoned and then detained by police after an elderly woman filed a complaint against him for making obscene remarks at her.

Janabai, who is in her 80s, filed a complaint with police in Rajura city of Chandrapur district, saying the parrot has been tutored by its owner to shower abuses at her whenever she passed by his house.

The parrot, Hariyal, is owned by Janabai's stepson Suresh and a complaint was also registered against him.

The mother and the son are living separately due to a property dispute.

The cosmic butterfly is in the news.

The cosmic butterfly, or as its known more formally, the twin jet nebula, was captured in a vibrant new image taken from the Hubble Telescope.

The glowing colors and expanding gas seen in the image are the final gasps of life for an old star, according to NASA.The old star shed its layers, leaving its core exposed and illuminating the layers to create a rainbow colored light show in space.

No guys, this is not proof that humans and dinosaurs co-existed.

Along the sloping walls of the Black Dragon Canyon in Utah, there’s a curious rock painting that looks remarkably like a flying dinosaur. Creationists say it’s proof that humans and pterodactyls once coexisted. But now,in a paper published in the journal Antiquity, archaeologists have revealed that the “dinosaur” is actually a time-worn depiction of humans, a snake and some sheep.

“What was supposed to be one wing of this pterodactyl is actually two little four-legged animals,” Paul Bahn, a freelance archaeologist and coauthor of the paper, told Live Science. “The so-called head and beak and neck of the pterodactyl [are] actually a human figure, with its spindly legs and its two arms stretching out.”

Cave paintings can be confusing, especially when the ancient etchings are exposed to the elements. Scientists say these particular masterpieces were painted onto the canyon walls by members of the Fremont culture roughly 1,000 years ago. But after a millennium of scorching Utah sun and the occasional desert downpour, the paint began to run and fade.
And that’s when human imagination took over. Amateurs first described the rock art in 1928, and outlined it in chalk (defacing the ancient art in that way is now illegal) to suggest the shape of a lopsided bird-like creature. But when one geologist later described the chalky outline as depicting a sort of flying reptile, or pterosaur, creationists seized the opportunity.

Young-Earth Creationists believe that the planet is barely 10,000 years old; some claim that dinosaurs first appeared on the Fifth Day of Creation (along with all other land animals) and boarded Noah’s Ark before The Flood. The Creationist website TruthInGenesis.com defends that position, adding that dinosaurs went extinct quite recently and that medieval tales of dragons are in fact crude descriptions of dinosaurs and pterosaurs. For some Young Earth Creationists, the rock art at Black Dragon Canyon became a rallying point—scientific proof that humans once saw (and tried to depict) dinosaurs.

North Dakota is the first state in the US that will allow its police to fly drones equipped with tasers and other 'non-lethal weapons.

According to The Daily Beast, the bill, originally proposed by Republican state representative Rick Becker, was actually meant to outlaw the potential for police in the state to add weapons to drones. Amendments to the bill were then suggested by a lobbyist for the North Dakota Peace Officer’s Association (NDPOA), Bruce Burkett, which allowed for weapons like tasers and bean-bag guns to be included in drones used for policing.

He added that the discussion to add non-lethal weaponry into the bill was based around “future developments” in drone technology. He outlined a future scenario where a SWAT team could call for a drone to be sent in that can deploy pepper spray.

As the Daily Beast points out, seemingly non-lethal weapons still have the potential to kill. According to Mic, over 500 people were killed in the US between 2001 and 2013 by stun guns.

A Broome-based luxury cruise company says one of Canberra’s top bureaucrats told it to sack its Australian workers and register its ship overseas to save costs.

North Star Cruises, which offers Kimberley voyages, has told a parliamentary inquiry a senior official from the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development advised the company it should move offshore to stay competitive.

North Star representative Bill Milby wrote to a Senate inquiry saying he had approached departmental officials at an event in May, warning new laws could destroy Australian jobs.

The official, whose name has been suppressed in government documents, is alleged to have told Mr Milby to take the company’s ship off the Australian register and to hire a cheaper foreign crew. The company’s ship True North is registered in Fremantle. Most of the boat’s crew live in Broome or Perth. Mr Milby said when he went to Canberra to discuss the issue further, he was again told by two senior bureaucrats to register the ship in a foreign country.

He said it was a shock to hear Australian public servants giving such advice to an Australian company.

The earliest use of the F-word discovered

An English historian has come across the word ‘fuck’ in a court case dating to the year 1310, making it the earliest known reference to the swear word.

Dr Paul Booth of Keele University spotted the name in ‘Roger Fuckebythenavele’ in the Chester county court plea rolls beginning on December 8, 1310. The man was being named three times part of a process to be outlawed, with the final mention coming on September 28, 1311.

Dr Booth believes that “this surname is presumably a nickname. I suggest it could either mean an actual attempt at copulation by an inexperienced youth, later reported by a rejected girlfriend, or an equivalent of the word ‘dimwit’ i.e. a man who might think that that was the correct way to go about it.”

Prior to Dr. Booth’s discovery, the previous earliest use of the word was in them poem Flen flyys, written around 1475. It had a line that read “fvccant vvivys of heli”, a Latin/English mix meaning “…they fuck the wives of Ely”. Historians have come across earlier uses of the word in medieval England, but have doubted that it was being used as a sexual reference. For example, the name John le Fucker appears in 1278, but this likely could be just a different spelling for the word ‘fulcher’ which means soldier.

INDONESIAN plans to make cohabiting outside marriage a crime, jail adulterers and stop the open sale of condoms are causing alarm in Bali where the laws would also apply to tourists.

The island’s politicians and tourism leaders are sounding alarm bells over the controversial proposed new laws, saying the State is interfering in issues of morality which could drive away tourists.

The changes are part of a widespread revision of Indonesia’s Criminal Code, known as the Kuhap, which was last revised in the 1950s. The 500-page document, which contains more than 750 articles, is currently before the country’s lawmakers for debate.

Under the proposals, cohabiting outside marriage becomes a crime carrying a one-year jail sentence and would apply to tourists as well as Indonesians. The punishment for adultery goes up from nine months jail to five years.

Tourism chiefs are concerned that if passed and enforced, by arresting tourists sleeping together and checking into hotels as couples, this would be a major disaster for Bali’s travel industry, which is the lifeblood of the island’s economy.

And moves to ban the open sale of contraceptives, which are currently prominently displayed and sold in minimarkets and convenience stores everywhere, have also been criticised.

PepsiCo, who make Doritos (through subsidiary Frito-Lay), are producing a homosexual version of Doritos called "Rainbow Doritos." Doritos are a product marketed to children, so they make the perfect gateway snack to introduce children to the joys of homosexuality.

The chips come in several colors. The green are homosexual, the pink are lesbian, and the purple ones are transgendered Doritos. These last are Doritos that look purple but actually feel yellow and demand the right to commingle in the snack bags that have only yellow ones.

What business does PepsiCo have pushing homosexuality on our kids? This is how far our culture has shifted; it's perceived to be cool to push a specific sexual orientation on children, even by companies that produce products that have nothing to do with sex. What's next – gay toilet paper and tampons?

This is the line that got to me.

The lawsuit Cornell filed in 2013 sought $127,000 in damages from Sean Tarala, now 12.
He was the only defendant named. His father, Michael, accompanied him to court.
His mother, Lisa, died last year.
