Cam streaming live from the top of the Washington Monument

Just in time for the debut of a massive art exhibit spanning six acres of the National Mall, engineers have installed a live-streaming webcam near the top of the Washington Monument...

The feed, which captures the World War II Memorial, the reflecting pool and other iconic scenery, also shows Jorge Rodríguez-Gerada’s facescape, “Out of Many, One.”

This temporary installation is a composite portrait, blending the features of 18- to 25-year-old men from a variety of racial and ethnic backgrounds whom Rodríguez-Gerada photographed on the streets of Washington, D.C.

Goofy Dinosaur Blends Barney and Jar Jar Binks

Nearly 50 years ago, scientists found bones of two large, powerful dinosaur arms in Mongolia and figured they had discovered a fearsome critter with killer claws.

Now scientists have found the rest of the dinosaur and have new descriptions for it: goofy and weird.

The beast probably lumbered along on two legs like a cross between TV dinosaur Barney and Jar Jar Binks of Star Wars fame. It was 16 feet tall and 36 feet long, weighing seven tons, with a duckbill on its head and a hump-like sail on its back. Throw in those killer claws, tufts of feathers here and there, and no teeth — and try not to snicker.

And if that's not enough, it ate like a giant vacuum cleaner.

Health Minister worried after being offered genetic test

The Queensland Government began looking at the issue when Health Minister Lawrence Springborg was offered the chance to have his own genome sequenced.
"When I went and talked to a genetic counsellor he actually ran me through some of the opportunities and some of the risks," Mr Springborg said.
But Mr Springborg decided against it, and became concerned about the lack of a legal framework to govern how test results affect things like insurance and employment.
"Once you have your genome sequenced then you may have an obligation to disclose that to your children, they may have an obligation to disclose that to insurance companies, so I've certainly thought about it," he said.
"I've actually charged the Department of Health to look at legislation which will provide the level of protection which is necessary for the individual who is interested in having their genome sequenced for therapeutic benefit, to protect not only them, but also their families as well.
"At present, life and income protection insurance companies, which are self-regulated by the Financial Services Council, require people to disclose the results of any genetic testing they have had, but would not force them to take a test.

A wave of panic sparked by evil clowns stalking French towns has spread to the south of France where police have arrested 14 teenagers dressed as the pranksters, carrying pistols, knives and baseball bats.
A police source said the group of teens were arrested in the parking lot of a high school in the port town of Agde, as several other complaints poured in over "armed clowns" in the region over the weekend.
In the Mediterranean city of Montpellier a man disguised as a clown was arrested after beating up a pedestrian with an iron bar, while three motorists in different towns complained about "scary clowns" threatening them.
The phenomenon of dressing up as an evil clown and terrifying passers-by - a trend which has also been seen in the United States and Britain - cropped up in the north of France in early October.

"....A 17-year-old, Darious Fitzpatrick, has been arrested in the case and charged with first degree murder, felony murder and especially aggravated robbery....."
Is aggravated robbery somehow worse than murder? More than a few of the big shots on Wall Street are guilty of very serious crimes then.

An unmanned rocket has exploded just seconds after launching in the United States.
The orbital science rocket was on a resupply mission to the International Space Station, NASA said.
"We have lost the Orb-3 vehicle," said the commentator on NASA television, after the liftoff at Wallops Island, Virginia.
"At this point it appears that the damage is limited to the facility," the NASA commentator said.
