Don't judge America by NBC. It's the 4th place network that can't really do anything right except by accident.

  2. ok, but only if you wont judge Australia by Mick Dundee

That is ridiculous. Students have freedom of speech unless it disrupts the educational process. The teacher should have prescreened the poems; I do when asking students to do personal writing assignments. Personally, I think the punishment sides more with the athletic establishment that must be present at that school. I hope the kid sues.

A perth couple "tricked" into being drug mules

The Perth couple who were unwittingly conned into become multi-million dollar drug mules after winning a dream trip to Canada feared they could have spent the rest of their lives in prison. The elaborate con duped the couple by taking them to Canada as "winners" of an all-expenses paid trip, which included accommodation and new luggage. The couple had won two return tickets to Canada with seven night's accommodation and free luggage from AUSCAN Tours and raised concerns about their baggage to Perth Airport personnel after landing on Sunday October 13.
Australian Customs discovered $7 million worth of methamphetamine in rock form in the luggage, with 3.5 kilograms of the drug found hidden inside each case. The 64-year-old woman, who only wants to be known as Sue, said they were looking online for a holiday, and after entering an online competition she was contacted.
"Be very careful if you win anything," Sue said.

Unless the teacher didn't read all the poems beforehand - which is just stupid when you're dealing with high schoolers - that's who I blame. Actually, I blame the teacher regardless for either being incompetent or mean.

  19. Gurkhas from Berkshire and Hampshire on hunger strike

25 October 2013 Last updated at 20:50 BST

Gurkha veterans from Berkshire and Hampshire have marched on Westminster to campaign for equal pension rights.

Some 25,000 Gurkhas who retired before 1997 get about a third of the pension received by their former British comrades.

Two veterans have started a hunger strike over what they say is the government's refusal to grant equal rights. Two more will take over after 24 hours.

There are 10,000 Gurkha veterans living in the UK, many of them in Reading and Aldershot.

Todays news - they are stepping up their action, and are now going to starve themselves to death.

Police were forced to break down the front door of a house after they received an anonymous 999 call - from a cat.
But while most people could be charged with wasting police time, Bruce Lee the cat is expected to escape after he was found cowering in the back of a wardrobe.
Officers broke down the door of the cat’s home after they received the emergency call and were unable to get anyone to answer the phone when they called back.
James Cocksedge, who owns Bruce Lee, said he “looked so ashamed” when they returned to their home in north London to find police waiting outside.
He told the Camden New Journal: “He got himself into this situation and then didn’t know what to do, so he just hid. If anything I felt a lot of sympathy for him. He was quite upset by the whole ordeal.

“It happened the day before his first birthday, so it wasn’t great timing for Brucie.”
Mr Cocksedge, 33, said he thinks the cat may have jumped when the phone rang and then started playing with the receiver, accidentally dialling 999.
The sound engineer lives in the house with his fiancée, Monica de la Cruz and their two cats including Bruce Lee – a Singapura breed.
He added: “All I know is, I left Bruce Lee and his sister Audrey for a couple of hours and when I got back the police were waiting outside my flat. They said: ‘Don’t worry, we’ve had to force entry, but the cat is all right.'”
The Metropolitan Police said they took all calls seriously, and when an abandoned call wasn’t resolved with a call back from an operator they would go and investigate
