On Air Trailer, Season Finale: The Walking Dead
It has all come down to this. Thirteen survivors battle an army of walkers. Don't miss the season finale, Sunday at 9/8c, on AMC.
I too wasn't fond of Carl going mute when he could have simply said "Dad, move."
What I was trying to get across is that it was necessary that Carl and only Carl be the one to kill Shane. Why? Because it is central to the theme of The Walking Dead and many if not most of The Walking Dead comic book readers would have never let it go that they changed that aspect of Carl's character. Killing off Sophia was already an instance where they deviated from the source material in a way that could be argued will force Carl to not be as he is in the comics.

To me the fade-to-black was Shane's death and the coming back was his resurrection. It got a 'What, huh?' out of me and didn't pack the punch that I thought the Shane scene deserved. Then I read this and I understood better.

Here again I would call the writers out for being lazy, sloppy or short on creativity in the execution of the scene (no pun).

    Shane's Death Scene (VIDEO)

Talked About Scene Episode 212 The Walking Dead: Shane's Last Stand
In the wake of Shane's death, Carl emerges and makes sure his father's best friend is put to rest once and for all.

Except they did change it, in a fundamental way. Carl states in the comic (after killing a very human Shane): "It's not the same as killing the dead ones, daddy." - Pretty powerful. "It never should be, son. It never should be."

Oh well, missed opportunity... I guess they really wanted Rick to be the one to kill him. I wonder what the writers were thinking though.

Ok just watched the last 2 episodes. Damn they were good. Shane and dale dead.... why is it dale didn't come back as a zombie? Cause they shot him in the head???
I am under the assumption that dr jenner told rick thy everyone was infected and it doesn't show up until they die.
I wonder if Shane took the hostage into the woods with killing rick in mind???
How is it that carl keeps showing up where they don't want him. Ie... in the barn when they were going to shoot Randall and now in the woods with rick and Shane.
all in all this season is kicking ass.

On a side note, I would love to see Maggie naked. (Andrea too, but its something about Maggie).

Just to leave the door slightly ajar for another dad and son conversation, they did get interrupted by an immanent walker herd whilst talking about Shane's murder. Perhaps they will pick up the thread of convo later. If I were his parent, I sure would!

Maggie was on my Lust list first, Ralphie.......;)

And did you hear about her flashing the camera during filming? She thought the camera was off and thought saw a tick on her shoulder. Freaked out, whipped her shirt off and sticks her hands down her pants checking for ticks. Then she realized the camera was still rolling.

"Nebraska" was quite good. Good ending with the bar scene and especially how it leaves you hanging with the roadside event.

I agree! And the thread has been fun as well!
I was curious about the sequence they played as Shane died then resurrected as a walker. Here are a few screencaps taken from the video "Shane's Last Stand' (upthread).

I really liked that sequence.... A few parts bothered me. 1) I thought Shane re-animated too quickly and 2) Carl was a pretty good shot with a pistol at night.
Sounds funny saying that as who knows what the re-animation time is? And Carl could have been shooting at Rick and missed.....

Speculating is half the fun for me. ;)
I had a couple problems with the scene but I think the little guy (Chandler Riggs) did a nice job.
In terms of reanimation, we don't know how long exactly Rick was by Shane's side before Carl made his way out of the farmhouse and across the field, but as explained by Dr. Jenner at the CDC in season 1, as far as they knew, reanimation can take minutes or hours (longest being 8 hours).
It's my opinion that Carl would never shoot his daddy unless his daddy had eyes like zombie Shane. In other words, the writers were pulling our chains to even imply the kid would do that.

After Rick killed Shane and it faded to black, what were those brief walker scenes about?

A swarm..... Zombies are attracted to the moans of other zombies. As they move along more and more zombies mindlessly join the group. Like a swarm of bees or miscuitos, they can overwhelm any defenses

Good point about Rick and Shane. Also Shane had been bleeding and sharing a lot of blood recently. I have a feeling the virus was taking over in him, causing the strange actions

    Up for interpretation.
In my post above this one I screencapped what I believe to be Shane's transition from 'dead' to 'walking dead.' In other words, the 'brief walker scenes' indicated reanimation--'re-birth'--as a walker.
