Ooh. The Bar Scene from the Walking Dead episode that aired on Sunday Feb 12.

Trapped, Rick, Hershel and Glenn fight to survive against new foes, both dead and alive. Shane finds Lori in danger on the road and makes it his mission to bring her back to the farm.


Beth's loving attempt to mourn the loss of her mother goes awry when it turns out that the dead isn't really dead.

 

Yeah, I really want Rick to become more hardcore.
I was trying to view him through the eyes of his fellow campers when they saw him leading in the zombies with Eugene and son, and I was ashamed of him.
Especially with all they have been through recently. It was just such a meek and passive thing for him to do.
Really felt out of character from his earlier actions.

 

Did they ever show Rick put a second shot in the guy (cyn's Rene) behind the bar? If not, he might be back.

Dragging it out too long would be bad because people are going to forget and the payoff wouldn't be as (potentially) awesome.

It was spoiled in numerous online forums months ago as they had filmed the episode by then. I'd guessed it though because of ...the comics...the fact we are alluding to is a fact in the comics

no Dr. Jenner to warn them-- the survivors just had to figure it out the hard way that everyone is infected. When you die from any cause you'll have to be headshot in order not become walker.

The short answer is that I'm a spoiler hound. I hunt this stuff down--know who to trust--still, there are foilers so always there's the chance of being wrong.

 

Why did Lori go into town by herself? I just don't get it. Rick and Glenn go into town and she decides to follow for no apparent reason? This whole section - going into town and crashing the car is just badly written. Question is why? Is she dead/lost the baby (I am speculating, so no spoiler as far as I can see). Either of these takes away the reason for the group to stay at the farm, so that isn't bad, it just seems like a poor plot setup to make it happen...

Lori is a control freak and she's acting impulsively.
She did though have a reason for going to town. Hershel's daughter, 'Beth' has seemingly gone into shock from the near-bite by her zombie-mom. I don't know if you recall but Hershel has enough medical skill as a veterinarian that he did surgery and saved the bullet-shot son of Rick & Lori earlier in season 2.
Now the (small) group consensus is, "We must find Hershel to come back to the farm and fix his daughter." Perhaps Lori feels she owes it to Hershel to try and help his child.
Lori asked Daryl to do it. Daryl, still grieving Sophia's demise, told her no.
Lori therefore took it upon herself to drive the 2 miles into town. What I found silly was her need to consult a map in that one-horse town but whatever.

Her crash will result in a zombie attack, so cool.

May I respectfully ask you spindles why you seem to be honing in on the writing of The Walking Dead as 'bad' and if you believe it so, why you waste your time on it?

At the very end. Glenn wants answers from Rick after finding out 'why' before leaving him alone temporarily with the dead bad guys, Rick tells Glenn to shoot them in the head.
Glenn logically thinks it is a waste of ammo and doesn't do it...right away like he should've.

 

I didn't say the show was all bad - Lori following them into town just seems strange to me. Nor did she ask Darryl to go with her, but asked him to go into town.

 

Lori is not my favourite character--not even close. Her flaws sort of annoy me but I think the actress plays her as she's being written and does it the way I'd have imagined Lori to be--headstrong, and at the beginning of the apocalypse anyway, sort of naive about how quickly you can be dead (except in re: son 'Carl').
In contrast, the character of 'Andrea's' trajectory is so day-and-night different. I hope they stay true to the written story, the comic books, on developing them. It seems to be that the writers of the teevee The Walking Dead who include Robert Kirkman (the comic book writer), are shaping the Lori character to be similar to the original.

That is unfortunate for her. She never becomes likable or particularly smart.

 

I worry about the TV show making Rick too hardcore though. What ruined the books for me was when Rick became too much of a dick. I couldn't stand him by the time I stopped reading and wished they'd just turn him into zombie food... or just take a bullet in the head because he's a douchebag.

 

Ok, understandable. Good point.
Hopefully, since they've already shown an inclination to stray from the source material in a few ways, maybe they'll show some restraint and balance out his more dickish ways with the compassionate way he's been showing so far.

I try to keep in mind that TWD comics have been written for something like 8 years now so...we have a lot of story and the TV version is really different already.
Sometimes I put spoiler tags on stuff that isn't really a spoiler, just to be safe.
I need a 'speculation' tag, lol.
