Took a few days off to visit the mountains. It was nice, but I got banged up a bit at Sliding Rock, and cut my hand and bruised my knee slipping on a rock, while tubing down the French Broad river... Hope I can squat this week.

    hoo-boy, did Yoga work me.
    joints are aching...muscles are tired.
and this is the day after.

Many strongmen thing Yoga is easy...boy do they have another thing coming.
    I was sweating.

I've seen many big athletes challenged by it. It's not what they think.
As a matter of fact, I can only do it every week not more.
And it depends on your instructor, some are easy, some push you.

And if you get one that pushes you...you often won't know it until after.
    Like a good alcohol. ;)

Knee hurt, until I rode the bike for cardio. Decided squatting would be pushing it too much so did upper body. Plenty of warm ups, back work, then benching.

Damn if I didn't bench 315 for 8, then 340 for five, then 275 for 10 as a warmdown set. I guess the vacation did me some good.

I have been praying with ye olde cult of iron and I'm up nearly 8 pounds.

I didn't even have any supplements with me to assist, either.

My woman has been groping the hell out of me.

I'll probably lose it all in a month. Rule #1.

I've gained five to ten pounds of dead weight, mostly due to my wayward "summertime diet." I'm going to have to shed most of that if I want to keep doing this MMA shit.

I'll clean things up in August.

Benched 340 for 5 last week. Then hurt my shoulders squatting this weekend. Rule #1 for older guys: Warm the hell up first. Really should know this by now.

Today I will do my cardio, and work on mobility and flexibility. I promise.

I stick with walking for the exercise option. Basketball and running are lower on my list now when I know my knees are more likely to complain. Fortunately they have been feeling good for a few months now which is probably due in part to not working night shifts anymore, getting more sleep, and not walking on a hard floor nearly every night as well.
Bike riding will probably be on my list as well once I get the brakes in proper condition. A car is often damn impractical when you want to stop and take pictures, or not allowed to begin with on the trails around here. One of them runs 20 miles I think on the old railroad line.

Bad knees seems to be a theme here. I get tendonitis in my knees for no good reason I can discern, and the only thing that helps is barbell squatting, which also can aggravate it to an extent too. If I don't squat for a few days, they hurt going up stairs. If I squat the left one hurts for a day going up stairs and then I'm good for about 2-3.

    Getting old sucks.

Squats tend to help my knees more than hurt, also. As long as I keep my form as perfect as possible. Let it creep just a little and BLAMMO, mad and swollen knees. I've probably been too careful with my knee since surgery. I swear I'm going to try some mobility stuff and try some plyometric movement. Plyo scares me. (getting old does kinda suck)

I've been spinning my wheels and I'm not sure how to get out of it, well I know but still...

I'm at about 14%ish body fat, and I've been there a while, I gained a few on vacation in May but I lost that and I'm at my usual 186. I want to cut to 10% but hunger keeps getting the best of me, so I do a wishy washy diet where I cut a few days, and then have a bad day, over all ending up around maintenance, which in turn means I've made NO progress in the gym in terms of weight or size gains.

Going from fat to thin, was easy compared to going from thin to cut. I gotta dig deep for a few months.

    Seeing results...then not. Grr...
Damn, the body is a strange & inconsistent thing.

I think all those damn tabloids who take those "gotcha" pics of stars, who are on average attractive people, ...on bad days, situations or angles,
should automatically be stripped down, kept awake for a day, laid out...then have approximately 100 pics posted on the internet and page 3.
(photogs, editors & publishers all included for the crime)

No one can have 100% always.
As (Kuthrapoly character) BBT star says about his "Miss India" wife...you get to see them real every day, they have weird hairs...toe jam, etc.
    Same with men.

One moment in the day, you could see a reflection and say, "Damn, I look good",
next moment, you could see a roll or lump or "something" in the wrong place and say, "What's that??"
We're a friggin' bag of water.

Then again, I could be saying, "meh"...then have a bunch of cuties glancing my way and flirting for the day.
    Who would've thought???

I have been volunteered to do some obstacle course mud run with @DamnitAll and @GeneticShift next weekend.

@LordEden and @CinnamonGirl might show up but it ain't lookin' good.

It's just 4 miles but may involve monkey bars.

    I love monkey bars.

    Pics soon.

I twerk on you. I've been doing a lot of squats lately so you might want to wear a helmet.
