I already use MyFitnessPal and Endomondo, which they didn't mention but I find more flexible than RunKeeper for tracking my activity, since I ride my bike and don't run (doctor's orders). Plus, the Galaxy S4 has SHealth, which functions pretty well as a pedometer (its other features need to be fleshed out).

Next week, I'm up for a contract renewal at the dojang.

I will be making the leap to hapkido this time. It's only an extra $15 a month to do both hapkido and Muay Thai, so it's totally worth it.

I tried out a hapkido class today after Muay Thai. We were doing some grappling. There's a shit ton more thinking than with the striking I'm used to. I think I'll like it.

But it will also mean training up to two hours a day three days a week. I can split it out to smaller time chunks over more days, but I'll see how either way works.

TL;DR: Starting next week, I'm beginning MMA training.

    Fantastic.

Too bad it won't save you on the 27th.

    ...

I'm a late-late gym-goer. I don't like getting up early and working out (somehow survived that in the military) and as a night owl, I prefer to roll into the gym at 8, finish at 10 and pass out sometime around midnight. My ideal schedule.

I wonder how those early morning people do it. Or the people that do it on a long lunch break. After I work out I just wanna eat everything and sit around in my underwear for two hours. Wouldn't be very useful if I was in an office.

First dude to break the other dude's arm gets to drive the other guy to the hospital.

    ...

3 miles incline at military+ pace, dumbbell chest press until failure, low squats until dangerous and and V-ups until intense burning sensation.

I need meat. All the meat.

  10. I've been kind of slacking on training lately. Trying to watch what I eat more (while still trying to stay within a pretty stringent budget), and trying to ride my bike more, but I just haven't gotten to the gym, and it's showing in my energy levels. Time to re-double my efforts.

So, post knee surgery, my legs are back to their normal strength. Now I have to find a gym with a squat rack and no frigging "lunk" alarm. I would also like to occasionally expel air out of my lungs without getting a snide look from staff. Planet Failure is just not a good gym, at all. Although me and the wife did work out together yesterday...

I'm down 7 lbs. from when I started shaping up again. My buddy says my biceps are bigger than his are. They're bigger than my husband's! Now all I have to do is cut that tricep flab. More kickbacks and dips are in my future.

So apparently I'm joining the hapkido crew at the beginning of the striking curriculum in their cycle. Two things: 1) I think this is good for easing myself into their game. After training in Muay Thai for a year, striking has become much more natural for me. 2) Last night I spent 2 hours doing striking combos, being that I did back-to-back classes of Muay Thai and hapkido.

This morning I feel like I did an upper body day at the local iron dungeon.

The hapkido class was interesting because it had context (where striking fits into the hapkido "tool box") and variations that deviated from what we normally do in Muay Thai, which focuses fairly rigidly on the foundations/basics. So I wasn't doing exactly the same thing for two classes, but it did involve two hours of punching.

In hapkido class, I felt like a black sheep among the white hapkido uniforms (I was wearing a black T-shirt and shorts), but by Wednesday I should have my own uniform and white belt. Between the two classes, I will be going from black to white and back again. We don't have our official Kru Muay Thai uniforms yet, but they're coming, and they're black.

Started the walking portion of my training for Toronto today. 2.5 miles. The plan is to increase by a mile a day until my body can accommodate all the walking we plan on doing in Toronto. Shouldn't be a problem--I hike 4 miles every couple of weeks and walk pretty regularly. I just rarely keep track of how much.

Also, I've been on keto for a week now. It's been incredible! My energy levels are totally different. I had zero "keto flu" because from my previous experience with it, I knew I needed to down serious amounts of water.
